If you like Savanna's Grand Arôme character with a sherry cask layered over it, this is aimed squarely at you. Expect spicy oak, dried fruit, red berries and a vinous, raisin-and-prune sweetness from the Oloroso finish. Cask strength at 57.65%, but tasters call it fairly soft and drinkable. A few think the finish steals the show more than they'd like.

Super Delicious Savanna! The sherry finish has a cool impact on this one and isn’t overwhelming. Only the finish is a bit astrigend at the beginning. The Alcohol is not perfectly integrated, but doesn’t affect the enjoyment

Tasted against another 2006 Savanna, the new Unshared Germany (RX16505): The differences are striking. While in the RN the sherry finish immediately comes to the fore in the nose and on the palate, in the Unshared Germany it is intrusive fruit gum notes, artificial in effect. However, the alcohol is better integrated in the Unshared. Ultimately, a head-to-head race, I find the Rum Nation more drinkable, the Unshared Germany more balanced with a slightly higher recognition value.

A lovely Savanna bottled by Rum Nation with a sherry cask finish that has left its mark. The nose is fairly classic but easy to drink, with spicy woody notes of leather and licorice, caramel and brown sugar, followed by a more varied fruitiness (citrus, dried fruit and red fruit). A relatively smooth, accessible rum. The attack on the palate reveals a heavier, more aromatic side, in which esters, tannins and aromatic herbs show their character. This is followed by fruity notes, particularly citrus, red and black fruits (blackcurrant). Spicy oak completes the concentrated, dry, gourmet profile, in which alcohol is well integrated. The long finish returns to raisins, spicy, phenolic notes and fragrant herbs. The barrel has clearly played its part in the final product, adding a good deal of aroma and sweetness. A fine cuvée with good value for money.

Very pleasant, but with little tasting depth due to a light aromatic bouquet. From a Rum Nation I would have expected more. Overall it is not bad at all, it is good drinking, but it lacks that leap to be interesting for a tasting of a certain level. Woody notes, esters, spice in a light way and a medium lasting finish of woody notes and then lychee/grape. The three years of finishing in Sherry Oloroso cask did not give much to the rum.

Edit: Tried again as a blender. It is definitely unsuitable for this. Corrected downwards. Nice savanna, but unfortunately quite entertaining in my opinion. I would rather put it in the easy sipper category. But still quite tasty.

A very nice release though the cask has added a lot of sherry flavours to the final result. Fruity with nice and warm/spicy palate and some nice roasted wood. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glas has nice flavours as well.

Solider 2006er Grand Arome mit typischen Aromen von roten Beeren, Ananas, Zimt big red Kaugummi, menthol, Zitrusfrüchten und etwas Lychee. Das Sherry finish ist leicht erkennbar aber zum Glück eher im Hintergrund ohne zu dominant zu sein. Ohne Finish schmeckt es aber dennoch nochmal deutlich besser! 😄
