One taster called the nose "at the top" but felt the palate lagged behind, and that split runs through most reviews. Expect earthy, almost muddy aromas, citrus, chocolate and a light woodiness, with a hint of menthol on the empty glass. #4007 This only gets better. Slightly darker in colour than the Louis & Charles. Fruity with nice wood and light spices. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass reveals some minty notes and the chocolate is clearer.

Jolie bouche, une belle canne légèrement caramélisée, des épices, du fruit confit, plus ou moins de colle à bateau en fonction de l'aération, un léger voile mentholé. Une bouche en retrait, les marqueurs étant un peu trop dilué je trouve. Un boisé empyreumatique, des épices encore, un côté eau de vie de raisin surmûri. Finale assez courte dans la continuité des arômes présent en bouche. Nez au top, bouche et finale en deçà.

Super interesting taste and the middle brother of the Louis & Charles, Alfred, and Antoinette trio. The nose has an earthy almost muddy scent that is not disagreeable at all. The palate follows through but also adds some spice. A unique flavor and really not bad at all.

I sampled this rum in my search for something not too heavy on the palate to accompany my cigar smoking. This is a very nice lightly woody rum which fits the profile but it didn’t convince me completely.

Erstaunlich floraler Einstieg, an der Nase dominiert ein schweres blumiges Aroma, zitrische Früchte und schwere erdige sowie frischere grasige Noten. Am Gaumen gesellen sich agricole-typische Süsse sowie eine prägnante Röstigkeit zum Geschmacksprofil der Nase, der Rum bewegt sich damit zwischen Agricole-Rum und Malt Whisky. Durchaus reizvoll, kein ganz gewöhnliches Profil - aber leider auch kein Geschmackserlebnis, das mich vollends abzuholen vermag.
