Longueteau Opéra (Harmonie Collection)
Sipped neat, this drinks like a polished, well-aged agricole: caramel and dried figs up front, orange peel, a little chocolate and banana, with soft cinnamon on a medium finish. Several French tasters found it hard to tell apart from a good Martinique rum, all fruit-secs and gentle spice. One caught a dry, earthy edge on the tail — the only real quibble here.

Ce rhum m'a fait une forte impression lors de sa dégustation au V&B de Sallanches. Très difficile de le discerner d'un excellent Martiniquais, il brille par sa complexité, tout en fruits secs, en caramel et en épices douces. Le boisé lui apporte un raffinement haut de gamme. Vraiment bon. L'un des rhums de Guadeloupe préférés

I like the fresh nose and the rather lively palate. But the finish is not very pleasant: dry, earthy and woody.

On the nose, we're surprised by the complex aromas oscillating between slightly tart apple, white fig aromas and something caramelized with a hint of chocolate! The nose is beautifully fresh. The alcohol is present but not aggressive. It serves to bind this beautiful aromatic palette.
