Had a nice HSE tasting this Friday and we had a lot of fun at the same time preparing a top shelf tasting later in the year. This is a lovely rum and a pleasant surprise. Fruity from nose to finish with roasted wood and vanilla.

I like it very much! Alcohol very well integrated. The finish gives it a nice complexity with fruity notes.

That's the first batch HSE has made with this red wine finish (Margaux). For me a stunner, the marriage between the rhum and the cask does the trick! Red fruits all over the place that are nicely interwoven with slightly bitter marmelade of citrus stewed fruits, the spices, a hint of varnish, a hint of tobacco leaves, some coffe beans and the cane aromas.

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 330 Rums

Le Simon is Martinique's ghostwriter. It is the island's most technologically advanced distillery, yet it sells no rum under its own name, runs no public tours, and ages nothing on site. Instead it distils two of the most beloved names in Martinique agricole, HSE and, until recently, Clement, on stills moved here from their original homes. What you taste as HSE is, in fact, Le Simon.
