Isautier Antoinette - Rhum Vieux 14 Ans D‘Age 2004
Most people land in the "very good but demanding" camp on this Réunion 14-year-old. The nose wins everyone over — toasted oak, dried apricot, cocoa, vanilla, spice — but the palate hits a wall of wood first, with menthol and a bitter, medicinal edge before the fruit shows. One taster nailed it: "Oaky, medicinal yet very fresh." Rich, dry, and a bit monolithic.

How does Isautier Antoinette - Rhum Vieux 14 Ans D‘Age 2004 taste?
Aggregated from 84 community reviews.
Oak-heavy, dry Réunion sipper with a fruity nose Strong scores and real love for the nose and oak, but several find the 55% a touch rough and the palate too dry, bitter and wood-heavy to fully match the aromas.

A superb product from Isautier. Woody (but just the right amount), spicy and cocoa.

Nice discovery!

#4008 Now we're getting somewhere. Slightly darker than the Alfred and motte power in the profile. Intense and fruity with roasted wood and spices. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has nice ginger and smoke. Price to quality is very good. This is the last one for today. Tomorrow I'll continue with the next 3-4 releases.

Sweet and spicy at the same time. I like Antoinette extraordinarily well. 😍

I like the Isautier molasses rums. Wonderful dry wood flavors, nice sweet finish, balanced drinking strength.
Review by Double Barrel
It's woody (in the most noble way), nutty and a bit fruity. Palate delivers what the nose promised. A tad monolithic but very well made and very pleasurable. A good surprise for me who had a bad image from Isautier with their rhum arrangés range sold in supermarkets here in France. That inspires me 2 thoughts : - I'd like to be offered a bottle as it is a bit pricey. - I will have a look for the other Isautier from now.

This rum left a strong impression with its full and intense flavor profile, accompanied by a nearly oily texture. The nose reveals layers of burnt wood, vanilla, apricot and pear. On the palate, dark chocolate and roasted notes meld with fruity undertones like apricot and cherry compot, creating a truly rich and satisfying experience. The finish brings a fresh twist, with an almost agricole-like quality that surprises, given it’s not cane juice based. Truly a memorable and enjoyable rum.

My first Isautier (as far as I can remember). Did some research a while back and scored this. Although its a molasses rum it has all the characteristics of a sugarcane juice rum. Freshness. French oak. Cherry. Taste: french when it comes in. Long and dry finish. More red fruits. Port. Dry red wine. Very very dry. I like it. Armagnac. Quity woody. Astringent. Very agricole still. Unique juice. Another one to try again soon.

Une belle explosion d’épices en bouche

Very nice bottling 👌🏻 A great mix of wood, fruits, roasted aromas, a bit of phenol and perfect integrated ABV makes this rum a very nice daily sipper. Update: I noticed some cool notes of peaches during the finish 😎

A very tasty representative of La Reunion. The only disturbing thing here is the slightly biting alcohol. Otherwise, very nice notes of oak and dried fruit. Very tasty with plenty of power.

I've already had some very good Isautier in my glass and am also looking forward to this blend. Nose: full-bodied, balanced, delicious. Spicy, woody and fruity. At first, a tart, fresh fruity note stands out positively. Gooseberry with blackcurrant and lemon with orange. This is followed by vanilla and fine mace. Framed by totally pleasant wood and a light caramel-cocoa sweetness. A little violet at the back. Everything fits together very well. 8,6 Palate: strongly woody and spicy. Salty-bitter and pepper at the beginning, even seems slightly banished. Hardly any fruit, most likely lemon zest. Instead nutty with mocha, nutmeg and light cardamom. The violet comes back on the finish. This dry and woody palate is very different from what the nose suggests. Clearly too much for me. 7.6

More gourmand than Apolonnie. A touch of vanilla. Less woody. Better-integrated alcohol. Pleasantly pastry-like. Sensitive bitterness. Edit: it's good. But it's not the type of rum that thrills me.
