Balcones Texas Rum
Bourbon drinkers curious about rum will feel right at home here. It's roasty and spicy, with caramel, dark chocolate, dried currants and a recurring cinnamon-and-mint freshness. Several tasters flagged the bourbon-cask influence as impossible to hide — and a couple found the 57.9% not fully tucked in. Still, most called it a genuine surprise from Texas.

How does Balcones Texas Rum taste?
Aggregated from 37 community reviews.
Roasty, bourbon-leaning sipper with a minty edge Most found this a happy surprise: roasted, chocolatey and bourbon-forward with a minty lift. The recurring gripe is alcohol integration — a few felt the heat sits a bit proud.

Texas Baby. Yeehaw!

#6th dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: Chocolate, spicy, dried currants, cinnamon, nutty Palate: spicy, dried currants, cinnamon, roasted nuts, minty The finish is (unfortunately) a bit short with notes of cinnamon, minty, green apples, dried currants. Like a bit winterly Ooh it’s from Texas 😎 Really lovely rum with a nice hint of freh mint. My Prediction: Belize Approx. 55% Approx. 5 years of aging

Newly presented at the BCB Berlin. Extremely harmonious and complex! A blend of green apple, cinnamony winter baked apple, grape or cassis jelly, citrus peel and green tea with fresh mint, plus some leather, burnt sugar and toasted wood and bourbon. Very tasty and alcohol content is chosen just right.

Überraschung Nummer 6 kommt also aus Texas. Toll!

Wonderfully round first impression on the nose. Gradually, more and more details are added - that's how I like it!On the palate, similarly round and yet intense. The storage in bourbon barrels, however, he can not hide. Long spicy finish. Very good rum, perfectly suited as a Feierabend rum: demands not excessive, with balanced spice and sweetness very tasty.

Nice profile, dried fruit, toasty, caramel, vanilla, baking spice, bourbon, slight menthol freshness. Somewhat reminiscent of Ten Cane or TDL. Toasty on the palate, dark chocolate, barrel, and bourbon again! Class rum from the Lone Star State!

Review by TheRhumhoe

With a lot of strength at the front but also smooth like a bourbon. And tastes and smells very similar - without giving up its rum character. I really enjoyed it.

Rum X Advent 6.12.22Overall a great surprise. Full bomb bourbon with chocolate and roasted flavors. Intense and nice depth of flavor, first thought something tropical aged. For me, some points deduction because of the alcohol involvement.

RumX Calendar No. 6My guess was at a TDL... was completely over!Well then, the Texan has a slight resemblance, but more not!Overall, an unusual, but quite interesting and tasty profile! In the nose fruity berry and fresh , on the palate more toasty and after bourbon! A successful bottling

Definitely an exciting, interesting rum. A good mix of yeast, bourbon, barrel and molasses.

6. Tag Rum X Adventskalender Geschmacksprofil erinnert etwas an Barbados oder Belize. Alkohol nicht so gut integriert, Schärfe deutlich spürbar.
Review by Buddudharma
RumX Advent Calendar 06.12.: Berry, caramelly, like from a port or Madeira cask. Not my profile, alcohol poorly integrated.
