TAST'TOE South Pacific Fiji Rum SPD 2009
Most tasters land in the same place: a fruity, easy-drinking Fiji that leans sweeter than you'd expect at cask strength. Yellow banana and banana bread lead, backed by vanilla, honey and a light roasted, smoky oak. One member wanted "more high glue esters" and called it one-dimensional; others found it creamy and rounded. Alcohol integration divides opinion too.

How does TAST'TOE South Pacific Fiji Rum SPD 2009 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Fruity, sweetish Fiji sipper with banana-bread core Well-liked as a relaxed evening Fiji, with two recurring gripes: the alcohol isn't always tucked in cleanly, and funk-chasers want more ester bite.

Strong and very present at the beginning, as expected from a Fiji. Some almond or a slight bitter note then. Hintenraus unexpectedly sweet with long, quaffable finish. Alcohol could be better integrated.Wins in direct comparison just against the RC Fiji 2009.

#6200 07.01.2025 Relaxing a bit after work with some trance on the stereo. Nose Medium intense, light wood, fruits, banana, light polish, light floral, ester. Palate Oily, medium intense, fruity, light wood, citrus, banana, faint honey, light polish, ester, faint caramel, light salt. Finish Medium long, wood, faint tannins, herbs, light honey, light salt. Empty glass Flowery, light marzipan, citrus, light herbs.

8,5:On the nose, esters, some plastic, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits with lemon, sour, anise and vanilla, nutty oak, smoky with sourdough bread, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is grassy, slightly herbaceous, vegetal and flowery, some rubber arises. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is smoky with roasted oak and marzipan, spicy with vanilla and anise, salty, fruity with tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, vegetal(chamomile, olive), grassy and herbaceous molasses, sweet with honey. When the rum is well rested, plastic and rubber notes are out, but it becomes buttery, creamy, as we notice hints of eucalyptus. 8,3:The finish is rather long, less balanced, dry&tannic, as the notes from palate linger on, peppery and again flowery.

A very round and pleasant to drink Fiji! The nose is intensely fruity, sweet and with delicious ester. On the palate it spreads creamy with lots of sweetness and vanilla, then switches to the slightly woody roasty flavor. The finish is medium long and sweet herbal!A nice evening sipper

Sehr komplexer angenehmer Fiji.

Sweet and a bit metallic. Bitterness in the finish.
Review by Rare Akuma
On the nose a fruity and fermented profile with predominantly yellow banana followed by a citrusy pineapple juice blend. It smells quite dry and acidic almost to the point of expecting astringency. Barrel notes that end lightly smoky. In the mouth a more coherent experience starting with bakery notes such as vanilla cream, lemon key pie and banana bread. Again lightly smoked with chamomile tea. The bananabread and chamomile stay for quite some time making for a reasonably lengthy sweet finish.

Very fruity Fiji, but feels one dimensional. Missing some high glue esters.
