Rock & Rhum Diamond Versailles Still MDXC 2004
Sip this one slow and neat by the fire — it's a heavy, wood-forward Guyana. Expect caramel, licorice, leather, coffee and that classic Versailles glue-and-varnish note, wrapped in herbs and pencil-shavings earthiness. Tasters call it very dry and drying. One member flagged a strange soapy edge and a slightly metallic finish, but most found the 55.8% well tucked in.

Aggregated from 47 community reviews.
Dry, woody Guyana with glue and licorice Well-liked heavy Versailles: dry, woody, herbal and long. Fans of old Guyana rate it high, though the 2004 vintage's licorice-and-metal streak splits a few tasters.

In contrast to the RX9406 I had in my glass before, this is a typical Guyana representative. The profile is slowly picking me up more and more each time. This one is more on the woody and herbal side. The alcohol is well integrated and I find it very drinkable.
Review by Vincent D
A very woody nose. A hint of sweetness and caramel. A hint of strange soap. Same sensation on the palate. Very warm and woody. A double sensation, heavy and greedy at the same time. Caramel, licorice. Almost like a bourbon (very woody). A bitter finish. Finishes with a hint of spice and light pepper. Leather and earthiness. And good length. This rum could have been crushed by the wood. It's very woody, but greedy and pleasant. Very cool.
Review by Filip Šikula
Well, this is a beautiful piece of wood lightly soaked in rum. It smells of wood, glue and a hint of what you might call soap. On the palate goes the first intense expression of barrel, wood and leather. It pearls pleasantly in the mouth and the finish is tremendously long. Lovely.
Review by Cédric Meyers
Very round, pleasant both on the nose and in the mouth.
Review by Richard Krupa
The predominance of herbs, and in the taste at first bitterness, which quickly passes and the aftertaste is mild. And the colour!
Review by Johannes
The 2004 vintage is not my favorite. Too much licorice, molasses and herbs.

If you want to feel the right Damond/Versailles rum, this is the one you should try. (Unfortunately Diamond is not my best rum profile, so just bellow 8/10 rating)
