Enmore Kill Devil 1992
The surprise here is how dark and savoury this gets: cedar cigar box, coffee, licorice and prunes, with a "goût de rôti" roasted-meat edge some tasters flag. It's the classic Enmore Versailles wooden-still profile — dry, tannic, a touch bitter. The recurring gripe: at 46% it feels dialed down, and several wish it were cask strength to fully open up.

Aggregated from 32 community reviews.
Roasted, woody Enmore held back by 46% Most love the smoky, roasted Versailles character and long dry finish. The steady complaint: 46% tames it, so it reads a little thin for 25 years — good, not the great it could be.

Intense rum, dense, heavy, mature, woody. Somewhat bitter, definitely not a flatterer. Lies oily in the glass, the 46% fits me well here. Mature rum, demanding, wants to be enjoyed slowly.

Review by Joachim Guger
Schönes, warmes Demerara-Profil. Sehr ausgewogen.

This rum perfumes the room when poured. Cedar wood (cigar box) dominates the nose, but bergamot and prunes are not far off. A real taste of roast completes this atypical nose. The palate is initially almost entirely woody (cedar), with some prune and dried fruit remaining and a roasted base, like cooled roast fat on the finish. Astonishing! The finish is long and citrus reappears at the very end. Phew! The empty glass is complex and much more balanced than the mouth. A highly aromatic and far from uninteresting rum, but too dominated by a too monolithic expression of wood for my taste.

20.08.2021 Sitting at home with some samples. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, apple, light leather, dried fruit, faint caramel, faint coffee. Palate Oily, wood, light chocolate, raisin, plum, light banana, light coffee, faint floral, vanilla, light leather. Finish Medium to long, wood, roasted, raisin, prunes, light coffee, faint chocolate.
