Romdeluxe Hampden Wild Series Rum Jamaica No. 32 HGML 2020
High-ester Hampden lovers are the whole point here. Despite just two years in virgin oak and a wild 86% ABV, tasters keep marvelling at how well the alcohol is buried under creamy pineapple, marzipan and tropical fruit. Several call it a "big surprise" for the numbers, even winning over Centenario fans. Not a beginner pour, but far rounder than the spec sheet suggests.

How does Romdeluxe Hampden Wild Series Rum Jamaica No. 32 HGML 2020 taste?
Aggregated from 37 community reviews.
Intense, creamy Hampden at a wild 86% A festival highlight for many: intense HGML esters, ripe pineapple and marzipan with shockingly well-integrated alcohol. A few find it slightly one-dimensional and astringent, and the price gets grumbles.

Für einen 2jährigen Rum... Bombe

Pure palate orgasm. It is fantastic how well the alcohol is integrated here, which leads to an estery explosion in the mouth already when the glass is put on. The highlight at the 11th German Rum Festival.
Review by RumTaTa
Tasted on the 11th GRFIn every respect an exception: sensationally well integrated alcohol, powerful Hampden nose, aroma steamroller on the tongue and the finish lasts almost forever!

Wow. Great strong HGML. You won't find anything like this anywhere else, so it's hard to rate. If you like Hampden, you're definitely getting something sensational here. In the nose directly a firework of HGML ester notes. In the mouth then surprisingly soft and round. You would hardly believe it, but the rum is well drinkable for its 86%. In the end, it lacks a bit of flavor to stand up to the alcoholic spiciness. Great thing, which of course has its price, but in my eyes is still ok, since the comparison possibilities are missing.

This one was the big surprise at the Germen Rum Festival. For a two year old it carries a nice controlled punch on the nose with intense notes. On the palate it just explodes with esters and fruits and the alcohol is very well integrated, so much so that it was something we talked a lot about.

What a grenade!!! HGML i love it !!! What happened in 2 years is incredible!!! Super well integrated alcohol 86% what the fu...ck wood impact of the Virgin Oak clearly perceptible but not disturbing .... Fruit ,ester all to the point .... Jamaica Brutalo Bomb

What a sick stuff. Brutally cool. I almost can't believe the two years. Respect to RDL for this bottling and thank you Tobi for giving me a sample.

Trotz des jungen Alters und des hohen Alkoholgehalts, ein exzellenter Vertreter des High Ester Hampden Stils. Klare Empfehlung!
Review by Rene Pfeiffer
Insanely intense and surprisingly smooth for the very high alcohol content.

Hard to believe that this Hampden was aged only 2 years and should have 86% alcohol! For me one of the highlights on the 11th GRF!Super pleasant to drink and offers much more than what you expect from such a young Hampden HGML! Chapeau!

Tasted at the GRF and been my highlight. For 86% surprisingly drinkable, very intense flavor. Surprisingly, he has even managed to inspire friends Ron Centenario fans.

Well this one was one of the highlights of this years german rum festival. For just 2 years this one shows off a lot of power 😜The 86% are well integrated for these high abv. This is lovely and must have for all high ester lovers. I think >200€ for this bottle is a bit to much!

Typisch RdL! Krasser Jamaikaner mit ordentlich Dampf, Feuer und Aromen!
Review by mto75
Quite approachable for the stark frame data. What fascinates me most is the creaminess on the palate. However, the high ABV commands a fair amount of respect. The RDL is far from an easy sipper!

Maximum intensity: the 86% drives both the esters and the tropical fruits neatly into the nose. Oddly enough, this quickly gets used to it. Now there is also room for more specific: coconut, banana, a bit of vinegar and marzipan. Plus some wood and tart, roasted hazelnut out the back. Caution is advised. The alcohol makes it creamy and really warm on the palate. Strongly astringent at the start, the fine esters then pop on the tongue. Definitely sweet, tart, ripe pineapple here now with passion fruit and neat marzipan. The back is a bit more buttery with a squeeze of lemon, and the long finish is clearly esters. In addition, pineapple, marzipan and at the very end the barrel comes through a little.HGML is already brilliant in itself, but with these %% even more of a challenge!!!

Tasted on the 11th GRF and I must say I was very skeptical at first. 86% and just two years storage, that must be crass. In reality, then the big surprise, very round despite this framework data. An exciting bottling, but probably more a unicorn for collectors.

Incredibly, this monster is good to drink and tastes good to boot! The price is unfortunately also accordingly monster...

Auf dem 11. GRF probiert: trotz des hohen Alkoholgehalts ein überraschend komplexer und milder Rum. Hätte ich so nicht erwartet.
