West Indies Planteray Cut and Dry Coconut Rum
Toasted coconut flesh, milk chocolate and a little vanilla — nearly everyone reaches for the same phrase: liquid Bounty bar. Made with real Barbados rum infused with dried coconut, so the flavor reads natural rather than the artificial Malibu sweetness. Plenty of members sip it happily, but as many find it too sweet neat and park it in a Piña Colada instead.
The community says- Real coconut flavor
- Chocolate and vanilla
- But: Too sweet neat

"Bounty!" is probably what everyone here shouts, because that's exactly how what's in the bottle smells. Coconut & chocolate take over everything - without it becoming artificial. That's how it stays on the palate too. Not too sweet, yet for the enthusiast close to a liqueur. But overall very natural, the coconut is close to fresh coconut water. Super smooth, and very special. Clearly more direct than the Stiggins.

After the B-Monster, somehow the highlight of the masterclass with Alexandre! Awesome coconut, it tastes like liquid bounty! Not 8.0 points by normal standards, but in contrast to other spiced/infused rums, it's very well crafted! Alexandre said he tried 97 recipes and needed the help of the locals before he came up with this one. Certainly exciting for drinks and a great product in itself!

Tasted at Sanctus Spiritus ‘24, so my review remains rather concise. Smells exactly as branded, like coconut. In such an extreme amount that it seems unlikely that this was achieved with only maceration. It’s accessible, sweet, creamy and perhaps ideal as an after dinner pour. In the mouth less sweet than expected, but still obscenely sugared. It tastes like those gasstation liqueur-filled chocolates. I’m a little surprised current reviews are so lenient. The obvious idea that this could go in cocktails like piña coladas has been continuously noted. Perhaps this has applications in home mixology, but for professional use I would always coconut wash a Bajan rum. Plus a good piña simply doesn’t need a coconut liqueur.

As soon as the rum is in the glass I think I have a plate full of fresh coconut macaroons in front of me, coconut ^3! On the palate there is a slightly grassy note but the coconut flavors continue to give full steam! The finish is surprisingly long and - surprise! - is dominated by coconut! For what it is, it's excellent and a great addition to pina coladas and other exotic cocktails!
Review by Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓
Oh, I just love coconut! And here the nose is so seductively liqueur-like, mhhhh. But on the palate it's unfortunately a little more sober and relatively thin. But not as sweet. All right. Still, not bad if you want to be undemanding.
Review by Tim
Of course, it's hard to rate this rum separately from honest quality rum. But if you dare, I have to admit that among the many coconut rums out there, this one stands out with its bombastic nose. Very nutty and lots of cocoa!! You can get it as a liqueur rum, which I have now done myself. However, it seems that the rum changes quickly (negatively) in the bottle, so better drink it quickly.

Masterclass with Alexandre Gabriel on 04.04.2024. Plantation becomes Planteray. For me, this was one of the positive surprises of the tasting. The story behind it is very interesting. Sure, it will never be one of my favorites, but I think you could mix good cocktails with it.
Review by DomM
Wow, this is honestly pure coconut on the nose, instantly filling the whole room. Some wood, vanilla, chocolate and lots of coconuts. But this is real coconut flavor in contrast to many artificial tasting products. Same on the palate with emphasis on coconut flesh. Reasonably sweet to me. Thanks to Alexandre and the RumX Team for the masterclass!

Smells and tastes like a liquid Bounty chocolate bar. Nice, natural coconut note. Fun to drink!
Review by Christian Rudt
Bounty in liquid form is actually very good here. Although I don't like Bounty because there's always a strange taste that spoils my appetite when I bite into it. There's no need to bite into it here, so you can just enjoy it. It's clearly too sweet for me to drink straight, but it should find a nice place in a Pina Colada. The coconut flavors here are fun.

#4687 04.04.2024 Online tasting wit RumX and Plantaray. Nose Light wood, coconut, raisin, light chocolate. Palate Coconut, sweet, light wood, medium dry, light chocolate. Finish Short, coconut, faint wood. This rum is all about coconut and there is a lot of it. We all agreed that this was liquid Bounty.

Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Super round and delicious coconut rum from Barbados and not too sweet! It's great in drinks and tastes very authentic and intense with roasted coconut chips and a little dark chocolate. Pleasantly "dry" and strong, if you can call it that. PLV could be 5-10€ cheaper in my opinion, but it's only coconuts from Barbados and therefore a really "sustainable" coconut rum.

Tasting 19/4-24 Peters vin The last rum of the tasting, and a surprise from Juuls. Nose: Coconut, milky chocolate. Taste: It was pour Bounty bar, coconut, vanilla, very sweet. Finish : Again a lot of coconut, milky chocolate, light smoke. It will work in a lots off cocktail’s.

full load of Bounty :-))
Review by Louis Zimmermann
Review by SaibotZtar
Great mixer ... Perfect for Pina Colada. Tastes very strongly of coconut and a little wood, relatively little fruit but some spice is present. Pure, however, I find it much too sweet for me anyway ...
Review by Jakob
Not a classic rum in the archetypal sense, of course, but the coconut aroma is so impressive - you can't get much closer to coconut macaroons in terms of taste - that I have to give this release its rightful place. A liquid dessert of the better kind, if you want to fall back on a generous portion of sweetness.

Spiced Kokosnuss Rum. Eignet sich sicher super für Cocktails. Zum pur trinken für mich ungeeignet.

Malibu time! :)
Review by Mark Leggett
This is a coconut rum but not a low avb artificially flavored one. This is a Barbados rum with real coconut flesh used to get the flavors and it works fantastically. Smell and taste coconut is in the forefront, but also chocolate, and hints of spice. Great to just sip, haven't tried anything else with it yet but I'm sure it would work well as a mixer.
Review by Serge
Masterclass with Alexandre Gabriel from Plantation Rum. This is Bounty. On the nose and on the palate. Dark chocolate in the main supporting role of coconut on the nose and palate. A really intense coconut note. But apart from the chocolate, there is also very little (or no) rum. Bounty is more practical. And unfortunately also much too sweet. But for sweet rum and Komos lovers, it's certainly a thing. But the name Dry is a bit confusing. Great taste, I really like it. But as a drink for me - as a sugar mimosa - unfortunately too sweet
Review by MarcT
What to say. It's a good Coconut flavored Rum. Drink it as is or use as mixer.
Review by LukaŽiga
7,6:On the nose, the natural coconut is striking and even larger than nature. We can easily imagine the flesh of the coconut and its sweet, milky, but also slightly woody character. We also feel a certain roundness which generously coats the whole, as well as a handful of spices which join us after a little time. 7,4:On the palate, the texture is much lighter than one might imagine, and this Cut & Dry glides on the palate with the ease of coconut water. We discover a surprising note of milk chocolate from the start, which will follow us on its milky side throughout the tasting. 7:The finish ends with dried coconut flesh..

I want to cry at how good this is.
Review by Speedflo
As expected, very sweet with approx. 28g sugar per liter. The alcohol is well integrated and the coconut aroma is omnipresent on the palate and nose. The coconut flavor is very natural and tastes very good to me. I would rather enjoy the "rum" neat with an ice cube or even better I can imagine it in a Pina Colada or other cocktail.
Review by Timo Groeger
Unfortunately, this planteray is not quite to my taste. Coconut can be detected directly in the nose. On the palate, this rum is also just coconut and relatively sweet, so just 7.0.
Review by DosenZorn
The coconut is unmistakable and comes with a full broadside. Fortunately, the artificial sweetness of the Sealander is missing here. I can imagine that it really delivers in cocktails. And you can also drink it straight as an easy sipper without any problems. Unfortunately not very complex, but I assume that was never the intention. Conclusion: I quite like it.
Review by Vladimír Bouček
I am not a fan of sweet rums or elixirs, but I'm really enjoying this one. The combination of Barbados rum and coconut is a great match. And unlike similar spirits, the coconut taste does not seem artificial to me, it is really almost like a coconut in a bottle.
Review by Eric Frechin

Kokosnuss dominiert alles gefolgt von süßer Milchschokolade a la Kinderriegel. Im Mund geht es wie erwartet weiter. Bounty Schololade zum Trinken. Unsäglich süß. Ist mit zu krass
Review by Mc Pirate
All coconut, coconut ball nose, coconut alcohol palate bordering on liqueur, very sweet finish. Personally, infusion is too strong. This alcohol is not a rum, for coconut lovers!

Liquid bounty chocolate bars likenOliver said! Very sweet and full of coconut flavor. Not too artificial, feels natural coconut flavors. Great experience, especially for friends of sweet rums. But too sweet for regular drinking.

RumX masterclass Planteray, 4.4.24, live with Alexandre Gabriel. First under the new name Planteray. Pure coconut, but not with artificial flavors, but infused with real, local, dried coconut meat. Nose: coconut, coconut, coconut!!! Slightly cocoa behind it. Doesn't smell artificial, but intensely real. Also lots of vanilla and caramel and buttery overall. Very nice for what it is. 7,6 Palate: yes, it has dosage, but it's too sweet for me. But the coconut is also intensely up front here with some vanilla and caramel and a hint of marzipan. Short and sweet finish with coconut and vanilla. 7,2

Bounty on the nose!!! Lots of coconut and sweetness on the palate too. But with an authentic coconut taste. May be too sweet for some. But for me a great sipper for a round with friends. Certainly also exciting in drinks.
Review by Rumbaer
Review by Jaime Jacob Moux
This is not like an overly artificial Malibu. It's a big coconut scent. The taste for me is liking drinking rum while smelling coconut. If you've had Stiggins Fancy, it's that but for coconut. Also wanna note I do not like coconut and this is very good for me, so if you're usually averted to coconut, you'll be good with this.

Planteray RumX Masterclass by Alexandre 04.04.2024: Of course it is too sweet as a rum, but as a coconut spiced rum it is not as sweet as other representatives. The coconut flavors are wonderful, strong and natural. I don't have to have it neat, but I do need a bottle for mixing.

Review by Agricoler

Tasted for the first time in style from a plastic cup at the airport. I actually prefer to drink unsweetened etc rum, but coconut rum is a weak spot of mine ;) The nose is full of coconut, not artificial but natural. Delicious! There's not much more, a little vanilla, young wood, a slight hint of alcohol. There's also a little floral note, chamomile is probably the thickest. It continues in the mouth with very intense coconut. A little less fresh here, more spicy. It is less sweet than I had feared. Unfortunately, the sugar dominates a little too much in the finish. Overall, however, a very successful coconut "rum".

Coconut chocolate with even more coconut. Very sweet and almost artificial. Certainly exciting in a cocktail, but as a pure pleasure it tends to give me a toothache in the long run. Plantation Masterclass online tasting on 04.04.24, many thanks to the RumX team.

Listen, this does not pretend to be anything else than it is. It is pretty straightforward with the coconut aroma and does not try to be a crafty fuck up other than in marketing. If you want this product you want this product
