Nobilis Diamond No. 21B EHP 2012

Opinions land all over the place here. A few taste real complexity — yellow fruits, peppery spice, vanilla sweetness, a lick of licorice and tobacco — but most agree it went into the bottle too young. At 67.5% the alcohol pokes through hard and reads a bit unripe. One taster called it the most interesting of the trio yet the hardest to tame.

How does Nobilis Diamond No. 21B EHP 2012 taste?

Aggregated from 30 community reviews.

Young, hot cask-strength Demerara with promise Interesting profile — dried fruit, spice, vanilla, licorice — but several feel this EHP was bottled too early at 9 years. The heat and rawness put a lot of tasters off.

Great diamond. Fully aromatic. Super intense without the alcohol comes across too sharp

The three Nobilis 21A, B and C in the test... now B: Nose: unexpectedly fresh, dry and very fruity. Pear and kiwi at the forefront, plus Paulus and yellow lemon. Sweetness of sugar syrup and right next to it solvent. Behind that, clearly cigar or pipe tobacco. Not too bad, but seems very young. 8.1 Palate: spicy and creamy, with a predominance of malted cereals and that yeasty, doughy note again, reminiscent of brioche. A little sharp and unripe. I also find a clear tobacco note on the palate. Liquorice and nutty at the back. 7,7 The feeling that these Guyanas should have been left in the barrel for a few more years is setting in.

#5055 18.01.2025 Enjoying a few samples at home. Nose Medium intense, light wood, faint roasted, spice, fruits, light citrus, light plum, light anise. Palate Round, light dry, light wood, citrus, spice, light caramel, light anise, light prunes, faint coffee. Finish Medium to long, light wood, fruits, light citrus, faint cherry, light anise, light coffee. The empty glass has chocolate, licorice, light caramel and dried fruits. Needs to rest for a while to really open up properly.

A very confusing rum which does not make in detail. The nose is however relatively soft and light with notes of dried fruits, spices, caramel, vanilla, nuts, coffee and chocolate. On the palate, we enter another dimension: if we manage to feel the yellow and tropical fruits, we feel mostly a discomfort because of the alcohol which is not very well integrated. It is pungent, very aggressive and difficult to bind in mouth. There's also some bitterness with the spice and leather, but it doesn't help to soften the overall profile. The finish is quite average in length, quite strong and warm, turned to spices, coffee and dried fruits. A rum difficult to tame, which could have spent a few more years in aging to be more digestible.

Brings the most exciting profile per se, even if it is the least able to pick me up in direct comparison with the young Albions and PMs ad hoc. Relatively balanced melange of fresh and dried fruit notes, peppery spice, vanilla sweetness and light licorice and mineral notes. In terms of complexity, this rum registers plus points in my eyes compared to the other young Demeraras; nevertheless, should it have been bottled after only 9 years? In my opinion, this was clearly too early, especially with the EHP Marque brings the long maturation time again completely different flavor spectra to the fore.

Also quite immature. Good beginnings on the nose, which can not keep up on the palate.

Best of the three, but still not impressive and really light in any term except than for alcohol which stands out.
