Most people expect Versailles to lean herbal and green — this one doesn't, and that's the main talking point. It's dark and spiced: leather, dark chocolate, coffee, tobacco and burnt sugar, with dried fruit underneath. A few tasters wished for "more fruit as a counterbalance" to the heavy sweetness, and one noticed soapy, perfumed notes on a second pour. Opens up fruitier after the bottle's been breathing.

Top Versailles with perfect bitter & wood balance.

Tasted three different Versailles together with DomM. The highlight of the evening after the disappointing Velier Beenleighs and the La Favorit. All three were very good, although in retrospect the Rum&Rock, which I had given an 8.5 at the time, was more herbal, with a profile similar to the 91 KFM. I find the TWCC and Cave Guildive more typical. But all three were very good and saved the evening.

Un bon Guyana, très buvable, avec un bois relativement présent mais pas trop pour moi. Café, caramel, notes de tabac, et pas mal d’épices et de poivre vert on dirait. Le cuir est présent tout au long de la dégustation, ça j’aime bcp. Un bon moment, sans prise de tête !

Wieder mal eine Guyana, der mich positiv überrascht. Ein richtig fruchtiger, komplexer Versailles! Ich schmecke viel Birne und rote Früchte, außerdem Marzipan, Holz und Melasse. Toll!

Our daily Guyana give us today...😋A very good Versailles and a good bottling. I did not know the marrow before. Dark, spicy, complex. It lacks a little punch for me and the finish is not long enough. But very tasty.

Nice bottling. Overall a bit too heavy on the burnt sugar notes for me… there are dried fruits, which work very well with the cacao and coffee notes. However, I’m missing the classic Verailles herbal notes, which would put this up one notch.

Beautiful Versailles, but a little too tart and woody for me personally. However, there are also lots of great notes such as chocolate, caramel and spices. A little more fruit to balance it out would have been nice.

Solid Demerara on the rather sweet side. Leather, caramel, café au lait, liquorice and spices. Quite pleasant to drink, but I miss the aromatic counterpart to the heavy sweetness.
