Another Diamond, again in comparison with the Elisabeth Yard 2003. The pattern of the previous tastings remains the same. The EY is much more present, this VM is more harmonious and softer. I would say the nose of the VM is so far the most similar to the EY, as a hint of its resinousness can be detected. The nose otherwise offers the usual profile of dark caramel and roasted aromas, nuts and also some of the fruits (dried mango) that were completely missing from Two Flags' 1996 Diamond. The nose is delicate, but very nice! In the mouth, the two rums are also more similar than the previous tastings. Caramel, roasted aromas, coffee, spices but also a nice fruit with well-integrated acidity - orange peel and grapefruit and a hint of tropical fruit. The finish is very soft and somewhat unimpressive - perhaps the rum's greatest weakness. So far the best 2003 Diamond. A real highlight from this batch. The EY is more intense overall, the VM shines with a fantastic balance and drinkability with a pleasant complexity. Super rum!

This is a pretty good rum as well and it should rest for at least 15 nminutes in my mind to release all the flavours. The nose has roasted wood and fruit from the start trailed by vanilla and an earthy note. The palate is roasted wood and dried fruits, chocolate and coffee trailed by caramel and vanilla. The finish is long with roasted wood and dried fruit.
