16.04.2025 retasting with Fabian in Blåvand. -------------------- #4089 In my mind this one is better and has a bit more punch than the Alpha. Maybe it's just because I just had the Alpha, but I tried nosing and sipping the side to side and there are small differences. This one also deserves a place on my shelves and the profile is very similar to the Alpha. This one also draws really nice curtains in and I can pick up caramel in the empty glass.

Nice blend of two different Enmore vintages. Components of the blends are three barrels of EHP Marques (once 1988, twice 1990), which a slight minerality, which reminds me of Versailles, is not missing. Apparently, both Alpha and Omega bottlings contain the same blend, which honestly doesn't really make sense to me - playing with different nuances would have been the more interesting option here...? Whereby I must state that the present result of the blend absolutely knows how to convince. An exquisite rum. Or rather two. Or not?

A very small step ahead of the Alpha. But here, too, I had hoped for a little more

Fruitier than Alpha. Fewer associations with Versailles. More perfume and tobacco. After opening, some musty scents that dissipate with the minutes. Very pleasant on the palate, the finish is too unharmonious and slightly bitter for a higher rating.

For me, a heavy, less accessible Enmore, because on the nose it is smoky and not very intense, as if something is missing or doesn't quite fit. Maybe it's the herbs on the palate. It rather evokes associations with a Port Mourant. Definitely not balanced enough. Lots of fruit on the nose, possibly weak esters. Roasted aromas.

More complex, more body and rounder than the Alpha. I like it very much!

I'm currently tasting the Alpha and Omega in direct comparison and I find the Omega a tad better than the Alpha. For me, there's a little more fruit in it.

Small comparison tasting: 1. sample Eleven Enmore 20 years 50,6% 2. Jack Tar Alpha Enmore 1988 - 1990 51,6% 3. Jack Tar Omega 1988-1990 51.6% 4. sample Eleven Albion 9 years 57,2% Jack Tar Omega 1988-1990 51.6% ------------------------------------------- Nose: far less balanced than the Alpha, slightly alcoholic, glue, spices, wood. Palate: In the mouth, different than expected from the nose. Slightly more alcoholic than the Alpha, but overall denser, more complex, more mature and above all with a great spiciness that I expect from Guyana. I definitely like the taste better than the Alpha. The alcohol is otherwise very well integrated, less smoky than the Alpha, but with significantly more tannins from the wooden barrel and also more sweetness. Finish: medium to long Conclusion: A very successful rum with advantages over the Alpha. My thanks go to Rum-X for the Jack Tar samples.

I have received this sample by using my RumX points (thanks Oliver!). I am a huge fan of rums from Guyana. This rum is a really distinctive rum with its own twist, which is nice to experience. You either like or dislike it. Personally it is not my favorite in that sense. Nevertheless, really happy to try this rum.
