Duncan Taylor Long Pond Single Cask Rum 2000
A Long Pond that whispers rather than shouts — the nose is shy at first, then opens into cooking banana, papaya and vanilla, with leather and tobacco holding the dry side. This is the low-ester end of Jamaica: fruity and easy-drinking, with just a whisper of that classic funk. A few drops of anis and salt round out a warm, spicy 54.6% palate.

How does Duncan Taylor Long Pond Single Cask Rum 2000 taste?
Aggregated from 15 community reviews.
Fruity, low-ester Long Pond that sips easy Well-liked as an approachable, fruity Long Pond, though a couple of tasters found it unspectacular next to punchier bottles — the low ester count divides opinion.

Super lecker.

Very reserved nose, needs some time. Then comes slightly fruity with plantain and a hint of papaya. Fine ester notes are there. But also this dry spicy of leather and tobacco and a slight sweetness of honey.Delicious, spicy on the palate. A nice light sweetness with a slight bitter note. Leather and tobacco are back. Anise comes in the back with esters (but not much). In the finish it remains salty bitter and goes towards tea.I like.

Spannender Low Ester Long Pond.

In crosstasting, this rum has the least esters, but the most vanilla, toffee and acidity. Unfortunately, however, acidity without any recognizable fruit aromas. On the palate there are sweet spices, vanilla, toffee and also a few fruits. The body is flatter and the aroma profile is significantly smaller than that of the other candidates. This rum reminds me more of rums from the Uitvlugt '98 batch than of a Jamaican. The finish is medium to short, slightly acidic and mineral with notes of vanilla and toffee. Only subtle aniseed aromas from the finish point to a rum from Long Pond. Not a bad rum, but the worst from my crosstasting. 76 points
