Edmundo B. Fernandez Ron del Barrilito Superior Especial 3 Stars
Opinion lands in the middle here — most tasters find it pleasant but a bit flat, and a few outright underwhelmed. Expect raisins, dried fruit, pecan, caramel and coffee, with a spicy, slightly astringent wood edge. The nose can fade fast, and several felt it never fully "worked" neat. A couple call it a good cocktail rum.

How does Edmundo B. Fernandez Ron del Barrilito Superior Especial 3 Stars taste?
Aggregated from 50 community reviews.
Nutty, dried-fruit Puerto Rican, a touch flat Mid-scoring and a little polarizing: nice dried-fruit and nutty notes, but many find it thin, muted, or short. Fine sipper, better still in a Cuba libre or daiquiri.

Tasting of Artur's Puerto Rico rums. A nose of apple, vegetal, bitterness, ferment and varnish. Young wood on the palate, followed by sweetness, pecan and sherry. The finish is short, with wood and vegetal.

7,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is quite balanced with dried fruits like raisins, roasted wood notes like caramel and nuts, spicy and a little rubber. 6,7:On the palate, the attack is pleasant with dried fruits, banana, orange and smoky, burnt roasted wood notes like caramel, nuts, chocolate, coffee, a but spicy, as the fruits become candied. 6,7:The finish is long with similar notes as on the palate, quite round and balanced...

06.12.2024 The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting First of all, many thanks to Artur for the extreme effort and for sharing such old rums at all. Apart from a few exceptions, the rums themselves weren't really that great, BUT I still really enjoyed it, because you don't get to taste rums like this any more as a normal mortal and I find all this background knowledge that Artur shared incredibly interesting. I really take my hat off to him. Big respect!

This rum has a pretty muted nose, subtly giving off wood, roasted nuts, caramel, and baking spices. I find the palate quite pleasant with nuttiness, caramel, and chocolate leading the way while balanced with wood and spices. The finish is medium in length with the palate notes carrying through

The liquid History of Puerto Rico - vielen Dank an Artur für die Teilung! Leicht muffig, eher flach.

Weder Schlecht, noch gut. Hinterlässt einen neutralen Eindruck bei mir.

Puerto Rico Set Nr. 7: On the nose this is an outliner from the lineup so far. Very dense on the nose, with lots of (continental) fruits like apricots and pears as well as raisins. Deviates from the lighter style contenders so far. Pretty nice on the palate as well. Here we are mingling in Guyana column territory. Dark caramel, raisins and dried fruits as well as coffee. While the edges are pretty rough, this one is definitely the best one so far. Cheers to Artur for curating this set!

05.2024 Does really well in the blender, gives pleasantly subtle flavors without dominating the drink 06.2023 Fruity, honey-sweet nose, which unfortunately evaporates relatively quickly. The palate is strong, woody and astringent with a long, warm finish. I prefer to enjoy it in mixers rather than neat.

Basically not a bad rum but 50€ is just absolutely excessive for what is delivered. I can also get 3 bottles of brugal Anejo or Havana especial and get more for my money... I can't understand the high ratings 😅

23.02.25 The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting Danke an Artur für die tolle Gelegenheit und Mühe. Nase gebrannter Zucker, Vanille. Im Mund mild, leicht würzig, süß mit kurzem bis mittellangem Abgang

As expected, a light ron with no length and no very pronounced aroma. Some tobacco and citrus notes on the finish.
Review by Rick Meyer
Very fruit forward … accented with barrel notes and caramel. Tasty!

In der Reihe des Tastings tatsächlich der erste wirklich annehmbare. Nicht besonders dolle, ebenfalls recht flach, aber immerhin ein paar nette Noten. Etwas trockenfrucht angenehme süße.

This is fine for the most part. A bit off-putting finish. I don't enjoy it was much as others seem to.

Florals and some vanilla. I remember loving this when I first tried it like 10 years ago. A little citrus. Maybe some light tobacco. Red amber pour.

This odd little distillery produces an intersting rum that really is too expensive. some pecan adds to the normal PR nose and some orange with some rose at the finish. Daiquiri: balanced, deep and dark, orangeat. Not really tasting of an Daiquiri but a nice drink. 4/5 stars
