CDI Savanna Reunion 2011
Give this one serious air before you judge it — poured neat at 58.3% it comes out hot and sharp, and several members couldn't nose past the alcohol even after an hour. Let it sit and apple, mirabelle plum, young wood and a marzipan edge start to show, with anise and light banana underneath. The catch keeps coming up: for a Savanna, the distillery character is faint.

Aggregated from 13 community reviews.
Hot, plum-brandy cask-strength that hides its Savanna Divisive among the faithful — most agree the alcohol isn't well integrated and the typical Savanna signature barely shows. Rewards patience, but several tasters left disappointed.

Needs a lot of time to calm down. Without significant time in the glas, its hot/harsh, hard to nose anything else. But after 1 hour the burn disappears and you get: Nose: apple, a bit of spice & sweetness. Taste: Apple, spices, hints of eucalyptus, floral notes Finish: Medium/Long Because of the need for significant time in the glas several points are deducted.

Alcohol not well integrated. Not much to pick up flavor-wise either. Hardly classic Savanna character.

16.06.2022 A nice day running through samples at home. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Round, light wood, anise, banana, overripe, light ester, light coconut. Palate Oily, round, light wood, faint smoke, spice, banana, overripe, faint citrus, light coconut, anise, faint caramel. Finish Medium long, oily, anise, banana, light coconut, spice.

Mmh a bit strange Savanna... I wouldn't have thought of it blind. Tastes more like a Foursquare with a mirabelle plum brandy finish. Alcohol not well integrated... generally very rough, especially on the nose. A little more complexity on the palate but not outstanding either... Some apple and mirabelle plums plus some young wood ... then a lot of bitterness and dark chocolate. For me personally this is nothing... Thank God I only have a sampler 😅

No idea what went wrong here but this is for a Savanna a bitter disappointment. From Savanna I taste and smell here even after just under an hour let breathe nothing and the alcohol is really not well integrated. Especially the nose is just really pungent alcoholic sharp.... Too bad! At least some Savanna character comes through in the finish but only if you know it. In blind tasting, the save would fail.
