TBRC Secret Distillery #6
Coconut, vanilla and caramel lead here, with a swipe of varnish and glue on the nose and a bourbony, tropical-fruit palate. It's a young-tasting 13-year El Salvador column rum at cask strength, yet the alcohol sits surprisingly well hidden. Several tasters found it a touch sweet and simple; one called it almost a "Vanillin Backzusatz" (vanilla baking additive). Pleasant and easygoing.

Edit: tried it as a blender and what can I say for 40€ in the sale a no-brainer! If I had bought up all the bottles Discovered it by chance in the sale at Whisky-maniac and decided that it could be something for an underdog split. I've never had anything from Salvador in my glass, so there's no comparison. Conclusion but for me a good bargain. You can't complain for €39.90. Better than expected.

I lost my El Salvador virginity with it. What can I say, typical representative from Central America, lots of vanilla, coconut and caramel. Could also be used as a vanillin baking additive. Alcohol surprisingly well integrated, top PLV. But too sweet for me personally, certainly interesting as a mixer for one or two cocktails, I don't need a whole bottle of it neat.

8,5:On the nose, we get a typical English rum style, with coconut, vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, minimal sweet spices and some varnish.When we air it, nice, sweet and gourmand profile comes out with toasted wood, yellow fruits, caramelized confectionery, baking spices, floral notes, dried fruits, nuts and toffee. At last, chocolate! Nice indeed 🙂👍.Round and balanced. 8:On the palate, the attack is bourbony, with yellow fruits, sweetness is quite strong at first glance with caramelized candied fruits and brown sugar. Some sort of fruit schnapps is felt more and more strongly with perfume, Rose water and some floral notes.The profile is a bit alcoholic. The palate becomes a bit bitter and dry. After a while, we get roasted notes with mocha, nuts and dried fruits. Less rounded now. 8:The finish is medium, toasted, roasted and caramelized, a bit fruity, dry, acidic...

This rum is also quite good. The nose is predominantly battery, you can also smell varnish. On the palate it is mainly wood, but leather and nuts are also recognizable. The alcohol is really well integrated and barely noticeable. Delicious.

Very slightly pleasant. I would not have guessed the relatively high ABV blind. In my view, a very good characteristic. If you like it a little sweeter, this is a good choice. All in all, a well-rounded thing. I like it.

Schöne Nase mit Zitrusfrüchten, Lack und eine Hauch von Klebstoff. Vielleicht etwas krautig. Der Geschmack eher Vanille mit Nüssen. Leicht rauchig. Auch im Abgang eher die Vanille. Sehr angenehmer rum. In der Nachtverkostung etwas nach oben korrigiert.

Er strotzt jetzt nicht vor Aromen, über allem schwebt eine Karamellsüße die schon bald nicht natürlichen Ursprungs sein kann. Richtung Abgang kommt ein wenig Würze und röstige Aromen hinzu. Ein leichtes, stressfreies Vergnügen. 😀

My first rum from El Salvador. Nose : a bit alcoholic but doesn't burn either, Coco, vanilla, Belize style. Mouth : much more alcoholic, vegetal, minty, fresh, young Final : medium, vegetal, astringent, not a big fan

Super silky, fruity, caramel, and vanilla fudge. Banana, a light ester, glue, pineapple. A bit young in the taste, but exciting. A few drops of water warms up the experience and rounds the flavour to a pleasant tropical mouthful. Enjoy!
