Sansibar Finest Jamaica & Trinidad Rum Special Selection
Most people came in with low expectations and walked away pleasantly surprised. It's a Jamaica-Trinidad blend where pineapple, banana and a hit of glue-like ester sit in caramel sweetness, with roasted oak and dried fruit behind. Several note the Trinidad side softens the funk. A couple felt it turned a touch sweet over time, and the 53.6% is so well tucked in that one taster guessed 43%.

A rum tasted at the restaurant of independent bottler Sansibar. A nose of tart candy, pineapple and maracuja with a hint of glue. Pineapple and dried fruit on the palate, with a slightly disturbing fizziness. The spice and yellow fruit finish is of medium length. The Trinidad rum tempers the Jamaican, but doesn't bring the super notes of the Trinidad rums of 2000-2003.

Annanas, lots of annanas, vanilla, banana, nice esters very round, then there is not this herbal note - really great PLV !To crack the 80 points mark, he would need me a little more depth, but you can not expect that at the age.

8,4:On the nose, glue and esters, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, green apple, citrus fruits, roasted, smoky wood with nuts, chocolate, spicy, grassy molasses, slightly dark with licorice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, yellow fruits, orange and maracuja arise, minty, herbaceous molasses, the wood is spicy with vanilla, allspice, sweet with caramel, a bit furry, as rubber hints also join...a surprisingly balanced combo. 8:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, glue, dry, sweet with toasted wood notes like caramel, pastry, peppery, salty, fruity with tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, green fruits like pear, apple, dried, yellow fruits, as the molasses is minty, grassy. 7,9:The finish is medium long, dry, as toasted oak, spicy, smoky and its notes pair fermented tropical, citrus, green fruits and slightly dark, candied molasses with licorice. Edit:13.6.26

Nice drinkable rum, but without any profile. Just nice rum
Review by Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓
Surprising. Pleasant. In the sense of: I had low expectations. A bit of a wood-boat touch, caramel-sweet, but not at all overbearing. Great balance. On ABV I would have guessed 43%, but it's a surprising 10% more, so actually perfectly integrated alcohol. At a price of about 50 EUR also recommended to beginners or as a gift.

Nice combo with a little Jamaica funk and Trinidad flavour. Tasted in 2023. Retasted in oct 2024, now I think it is a little sweet

06.08.2022 Thinking about the price tag you get a lot for your money. A fresh and fruity rum with light esters and some glue. Pretty well balanced profile and a medium to long finish. The empty glass had light chocolate notes.
