Berry Bros & Rudd Clarendon Jamaican Rum 2004
Sip it neat with a drop of water and this Clarendon shows a bright, fruity side of Jamaica — crushed banana and pineapple up front, funky esters and solvent underneath, with light wood and a hint of smoke. Several members call it elegant and round rather than a wild ester bomb. Long, warm finish. At 62.4% the heat is mostly in check.

8,1:On the nose, medicinal with light esters, solvents, funky, quite intense, green, grassy(hay) molasses, banana, kiwi, pineapple, smoky wood and vanilla, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, fruits are fermented, citrus and green fruits arise, buttery tones, burnt sugar, pastry, nuts, some anise. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is medicinal, funky with light esters, menthol, slightly metallic, fruity with pineapple, banana, citrus fruits, the wood is roasted, sweet with burnt sugar, biscuits, pastry, smoky, spicy with anise, allspice, vanilla, slightly peppery and molasses is grassy, herbaceous, vegetal. 8,1:The finish is long, dry&tannic, medicinal, fruity with tropical, green fruits, oak is roasted with chocolate, marzipan, biscuits, spicy, warm with anise, allspice, as molasses is grassy, flowery, slightly dark with black tea, licorice..

Very fine on the nose, in the mouth I find it very funky. Alcohol m.M. very well integrated. I like it very much. Very fruity and round. Although a bit simple but he makes you want more.
Review by Rene Pfeiffer
Very light color in the glass for 17 years. The nose is fruity, slightly smoky and woody. Nice funky ester notes. Very similar on the palate, not particularly sweet. A little nuttiness is added on the finish. Overall not particularly complex, but pleasantly intense in the fruit. Alcohol is well integrated.
Review by Djehey
A rather elegant Jamaican with a fat, mashed banana-like frame mixed with pineapple. Not bad at all. The nose is more discreet than the mouth. On the palate, it's fruity, but also pastry-like: brioche, pastries, almond paste. Very nice.

Tasted yesterday at the Finest Spirits at the booth of Berry Bros. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. For a long time again had a Monymusk in the glass. It captivates by its certain simplicity, but at the same time is a very round Jamaican. Of course, you can not expect anything too complex.Nevertheless, a real positive surprise.
