Rest & Be Thankful Long Pond LSO 1998
Light glue and floral, green-fruit notes lead the nose — several tasters even mistook it blind for a Demerara Port Mourant rather than Long Pond. The palate turns oily with candied yellow fruit, oak and a roasted edge, then a bitter, astringent finish that divides people. Fruit is faint, so this is a dry, wood-and-acid Jamaican, not a sweet ester bomb.

How does Rest & Be Thankful Long Pond LSO 1998 taste?
Aggregated from 23 community reviews.
Dry, oily Long Pond with bitter finish Distinctive but polarizing: a floral, oily 23-year Long Pond that many find short on fruit and too bitter and astringent late. Some enjoy it, several call it a letdown.

It was okay, but one of the lesser ones in the collector line-up at SDR.

Wenig Frucht. Dafür viel Säure und im Abgang leicht bitter mit Holznote.

Very astringent, I lack fruitiness. I can not taste much of tropical maturation.

I first notice the fresh and floral nose. Would I have blind rather assigned Port Mourant. I like it already very well. The floral does not reappear on the palate. Nevertheless, the rum remains rather like a very expressive Port Mourant. The long finish continues homogeneously. Only at the very end a few fruit esters flash up. Very good rum, atypical of Long Pond. Perfect for confusion in a blind tasting.

Nase wenig, zurückhaltend, bissel Jamaika; Zunge würzig, wenig Frucht, leicht astringierend, bissel Holz, nach hinten raus leicht bitter, wie verkohlt, PLV zu teuer

On the nose yellow and green fruits and a good dose of oak barrel. On the palate, candied yellow fruits and toasty notes. Not super complex, but tasty sipper - but mE priced a bit too high.

Slightly sticky, otherwise very flowery, herbal nose. Turns out a little flat towards the end and has an unpleasant acidity and bitterness.
