Nobilis Enmore (Versailles) No. 15 REV 2006

Dark chocolate, dried plum and black tea run through this cask-strength Enmore REV from Guyana. The nose wins most people over — malty, fruity, resinous wood — while the palate turns intensely bitter, salty and charred. Several tasters call the 2006 a lighter, fruitier "REV Light" next to the legendary 1994s. A faint soapy violet note bugs a few. Give it long air.

How does Nobilis Enmore (Versailles) No. 15 REV 2006 taste?

Aggregated from 79 community reviews.

Dark, bitter Enmore with a stunning nose Loved for its deep, complex nose and dark chocolate-mocha-dried fruit profile. The recurring catch: a strong bitterness on the palate, and a floral-soapy note some tasters can't unsee.

Perfect for

Fans of dark, bitter Demerara pot-still rum

Less suitable for

Anyone who dislikes bitterness or soapy floral notes

Probably one of the best Guyanas in this year for me. Impressed.

Compared to the 1994, it doesn't have that rotten wood aspect that I don't like. On the other hand, I think they've added a big ladleful of molasses to the barrel, which makes it very round, even nauseating. One glass at a time is more than enough for me. I also find the nose surprisingly discreet, perhaps a little closed because of the additions... With oxidation, the nauseating side disappears. It's simply an excellent rum.

REV simply tastes good, even if it's the 2006 Little Brother Vintage! Incredibly delicious on the nose, I almost couldn't sit still next to the glass and let it breathe, I wanted to taste it straight away. Dark aromas of berries, resinous wood and bitter molasses entice you to try it. On the palate, the bitter representatives predominate and hit the tongue with an old wooden bar. Still cool, still delicious REV, but a clear drop compared to the nose. Nevertheless, a strong bottling that is a pleasure to have in the glass.

Great REV! Dark, malty and complex. The fruit is not in the first place, but always accompanies the aromatics. One tastes the eight years of tropical storage in my opinion very well, thereby the barrel has worked well. Bitternotes are quite present, but not yet exaggerated. 2006 can definitely also what.
