Rest & Be Thankful Clarendon MPG 2000
Most tasters land in the same place: a genuinely good, well-balanced Clarendon Monymusk, just not their top pick of the R&BT lineup. Expect yellow fruit, pear, honey and a warm spice with only light ester funk. Several note it feels a touch thin for 21 years, and the alcohol reads sharp for some, well-integrated for others. Long, fruity, spiced finish.

How does Rest & Be Thankful Clarendon MPG 2000 taste?
Aggregated from 35 community reviews.
Round, low-ester Monymusk, fruity and spiced Widely liked as a round, low-ester Jamaican with pear, honey and spice. The recurring catch: several find it a little thin and hot for its age, lacking a real signature.

Tasted during the RumX masterclass. Huge thanks the guys from R&BT for presenting their range! Very nice exploration of some low(we) ester marks. While some of the noses were a little light, the long aged expressions are very interesting on the palate across the board. Very interesting! :) Round and pleasant low ester Clarendon.

Five different Clarendon monymusk bottled by Rest&Be thankful in the predominantly low ester range were compared. The winner for me was RX18817-->Mark MMW and with esters of 224.2 gr/hlpa the highest value is in front for me, followed by this MPG with just over 100 gr/hlpa esters. Burns relatively strongly but brings a lot of citrus fruit and a little more funk. But it could also be a little more balanced.

Spicy mid-low ester Clarendon. Nice fruity notes with pear, tropical fruits, yellow fruits and also some kiwi. Licorice is also there. Pleasantly drinkable. On the palate a hint of calvados, fruit, licorice again and vanilla and nutmeg.

Master tasting by Rest & BeThankful via RumX In addition to the sweet fruit, this MM surprises with a menthol note on the nose. Very unusual. On the palate it is classically fruity and sweet, with some allspice, cask and tannins. This interplay of aromas continues on the finish. This is a very good and balanced MM

#4601 07.02.2024 online tasting with Rest & Be Thankful. Nose Light roasted wood, light ester, fruity, floral, light mint. Palate Oily, faint roasted wood, spicy, fruits, light ester, medium dry, light herbs. Finish Medium long, oily, spicy, faint wood, dried fruit. Thick slow moving curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some faint chocolate and light citrus notes.

Spicy, pleasantly good. More than positively surprised.

Another (visually!) very pale Monymusk representative from Rest & Be Thankful. The nose is very full-bodied: lots of yellow fruit, something medicinal/smoky, spice is also there, cask and wood less so. On the palate, I find a good continuation of the impressions from the nose. The roasted aromas and the influence of finesse are somewhat more pronounced. In addition, the alcohol doesn't seem very well integrated to me and a hint of wet hay emerges surprisingly. The finish is even more spicy and barrel-heavy but without bitterness. Very good rum but not my favorite in terms of profile.

A good, pleasant rum. Surprising too, as the exotic fruits are supplanted by white-fleshed fruits. But for its 20 years of age and its price, I find it a little thin on the palate, and you can find better in the same style if you have €200 to spend on a nice bottle.

RumX/Kirsch online tasting Rest&Be Thankful! 21 years old and, with 104 gr/hlpa ester, belongs to the Mark MPG, a light pot. Nose: this has a little more substance than its low-ester colleagues. Dominant are citrus fruits with gooseberry and a fine honey sweetness that almost resembles sugar water. Behind this is cherry wood. A spiciness that I can't clearly categorize and also slightly smoky at the back. Very pleasant and round. 8.6 Palate: pleasantly intense and delicious, starts with a lovely honey sweetness, accompanied by spice and some wood. The sweetness turns to aniseed and licorice. A mixture of apricot and apple or pear gets ready. Now appears creamier and slightly bacony. The apricot remains present in the medium-long finish. I like it. 8.4

After the RumX R&BT tasting on February 7, I tasted the rest again with more calm. The sixth rum in the glass is again a MM, with MPG Marque, already a step above MBK/AHJ, but still rather low ester range with 110-125 gr/hlpa. I like it quite a bit on the nose, with a tropical fruit basket, spiciness (caraway bread), caramel, and a freshness that I associate most with aniseed. It was my favorite in the tasting after the previous five.

As I was unfortunately unable to attend the tasting thanks to the Deutsche Bahn, I'm now taking the time to catch up. In my opinion, the first impression is that it is the best of the samples in this tasting. In contrast to the others, the price is also "reasonable".

Fruits, woody aromas, herbs - aromatically multi-layered. Exciting mélange, intense, quite demanding - yet coherent and well-balanced without being boring. It doesn't reach the pinnacle, it lacks the unique selling point, but it is still of a high standard. Pleasing.

Gentle nose with bright fruits and slight spices in the background. Tge palate gets rather sharp from the spices, astringent mouthfeel, rather dry & less fruity. Well integrated alcohol. Vanilla on the finish, the spices stay for quite some time. Astringent finish.

Part of the Rest & Be Thankful tasting (thanks to RumX and F.L.O. for sharing). Nice and interesting event. All the candidates had a very nice nose. I liked the LSO and MPG profile the best. Overall, however, I often missed the tropical maturation.

Rest & Be Thankful Tasting February 7 The nose is different to what I expected. Pear and yellow fruit dominate. Over time, light menthol notes come through and the honey almost gives the impression of a sweetened rum. In the mouth it is spicier than expected from the smell. The finish is an exciting interplay of banana and herbal notes.

This Monymusk strictly follows the line announced in the nose without introducing any surprising twists. Right from the start, the focus here is on a mixture of toasty and sometimes slightly smoky woodiness, fine light fruits and spices. A tasty, continental matured Jamaican rum with a very moderate ester content, but in my opinion, the issue price is far too high.

Komplexer, Honig-Noten in Richtung Rockley 2000.

What makes this rum special are aromas such as apricots, menthol and a little smoke on the nose. First of all, this is not really my cup of tea, but you still get a solid and round Jamaican with the otherwise typical profile. Long fruity finish!

Beautiful but unfortunately weaker monymusk

Online tasting with Rest & Be Thankful on 07.02.2024. Overall a very round rum from Jamaica. Slight notes of ester, but within limits. Fruits and some sweetness are more dominant in the nose and finish. Medium finish.
