Not you MMW, and you might expect a fruit-and-glue Jamaican bomb — instead the heavy continental ageing pushes it toward Demerara territory. Several tasters flag "pencil shavings" and a metallic, mineral edge alongside peach, melon and mango. There's roasted oak, marzipan and a dry, tannic finish. The 62% isn't always cleanly integrated, and opinions split hard between "Versailles-like" charm and drinkers who just don't warm to the graphite.

8,4:On the nose, the mark of the barrel is strong, we have roasted wood notes with nuts, marzipan, malt notes, spices like pepper and medicinal touch with glue and esters.The fruits are tropical with mango and pineapple... On aeration, peaches and strong melon arise, with orange peel and lime, flowery tones, some pastry, dark chocolate and clove. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is actually tasty with roasted wood notes, especially roasted nuts, caramel, chocolate, spices like pepper, ginger and some salt, strong pencil shavings and fruits like melon, peaches, pineapple and very strong litchi with herbaceous molasses, later grassy.Mango and citrus pop out after resting the rum, coppery patina and pastry 8,3:The finish is long, dry and tannic, slightly smoky, with most of the palate notes lingering on...l

Hätte ich blind vom Geschmack her fast schon in Richtung kontinental gereiften Uitvlugt gesteckt wegen der Bleistift Noten die mir leider so gar nicht zusagen... Man schmeckt (und sieht) hier generell sehr das der Hauptteil der Reifung Kontinental gewesen sein muss, was der Qualität leider auch einiges an Abzug beschert. Der Alkohol könnte besser integriert sein, sonderlich komplex und angenehm zu trinken empfinde ich ihn auch nicht... Trifft aber auch einfach gar nicht meinen Geschmack.

In meinen Augen gibt deutlich bessere Clarendon MMWs. Der Alkohol könnte hier besser integriert sein. Ganz dezente Fruchtnote. Leichte Cremigkeit am Gaumen. Etwas Kräuter und Holz. Hatte ich mir von erhofft.

I agree with Johannes - there really is a Versailles feeling here. In addition to the obligatory tropical fruit with lots of peach and mango, there is also wood and spices here, but in a pleasantly balanced form. There are also the aforementioned mineral notes, reminiscent of the typical VSG pencil shavings from Demerara. Exciting profile with its own character. Beautiful selection.

Nez sur l ananas et la pêche, assez léger. En bouche, le piquant d un alcool pas très bien intégré, un peu de fruit, pêche en tête. Également un côté métallique et crayon, qui me font penser à un port mourant. Ne me procure pas un grand plaisir. Beaucoup trop cher pour ce que c est.
