Velier Enmore & Port Mourant EHPM 1998
Almost everyone here rates it high, but with an honest asterisk: it takes ages to open. Tropically aged Velier Demerara, an Enmore and Port Mourant blend that's oily and full of dark dried fruit, coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate. A few say the 62.2% ABV overpowers it even after two hours, and that in this company "the competition is strong."

How does Velier Enmore & Port Mourant EHPM 1998 taste?
Aggregated from 30 community reviews.
Oily, dark-fruited Demerara that needs patience Loved by most as one of the better Velier Demeraras — oily, spicy, dark-fruited. The catch: it needs long air time, and a couple find the alcohol never fully settles.

Velier and Demerara is rarely a combination that does not know how to convince - also in this case results in an excellent rum that expresses the magnificent potency of tropically aged Demeraras. Compared to the very great representatives of the Velier era, a tad of complexity in the wood notes is missing, perhaps some freshness and complexity in the spice - but that does not change the high level of this bottling. Very good rum!

L’eleganza di enmore si fonde perfettamente con le note di bosco e oleose del port mourant! In questo caso si è riuscito a trovare un equilibrio davvero perfetto tra questi due mitici alambicchi! Un blend davvero ben fatto!

In the nose still rather restrained needs a lot of time in the glass then you will be rewarded with great spice Dark dried fruits, coffee chocolate are in the foreground here ... In the mouth it is really fun... great spice smooth and oily very complex flavors... really delicious.

13.03.2016 Nice relaxing day in the basement with nice food. Notes Very dark in colour. Nose Wood, roasted, dried fruit, light chocolate, cherry, spice, light caramel. Palate Oily, balanced, complex, wood, roasted, faint smoke, light chocolate, caramel, light coffee. Finish Very long, wood, roasted, dried fruit, licorice, light mint.

Takes a lot of time to open up. Tobacco, Demerara and wood. Alcohol more present compared to Enmore 1995. 31/10/24: Salty and smoky (maggi, campfire) in the nose. Associations with candied bacon. Rated significantly higher this time. Glencairn is the better glass given the alcohol.

On the nose, a very harmonious blend of Enmore and Port Mourant. Very, very nice!😄 In the mouth now more PM, very full-bodied and oily. Mmmmh. The alcohol is super integrated. A really great, tropically aged Demerara. Lucky is who still has a bottle there.

An excellent Demerara. The nose is full of beautiful things, the palate is delicious and the finish is long.

... Stare Velier Demerara rumy je to nejlepsi, co v rumovem svete muzete ochutnat. Rumy zraly spise omylem nekolik let v tropech a nikdo obsah sudu nedoplnoval. Andelska dan byla 90% a vice, proto je chut obzvlaste plna a intenzivni. I kdyz se jedna o extra drahou zalezitost, doporucu alespon jednou v zivote ochutnat rum z teto serie.

Even after several attempts, I don't really like the rum at first. This is actually a shame, as the aroma package is basically right, but even after more than 2 hours the rum is overpowered by the alcohol and never really wants to open up. What comes through is very warm, sweet and delicately spicy. Dried fruit, brown sugar, caramel... However, the intensity does not match. Much more harmonious in the mouth, a pleasant sweetness, subtle wood from the PM portion, hardly any fruit and lots of spice, brown sugar, lots of barrel. Quite good, but the competition from Demerara is too strong

Finished a bottle recently, definitely one of the best Demerara velier stuff, very well blended, the Enmore and Port Mourant just matched well, I will say I find more REV influence from this bottle, more dark side of notes with toffee, dark chocolate and dark fruits, nice sweet and nice mixed and balanced together, probably the best blend Demerara velier stuff
