Damoiseau VO
Milder than most agricoles, which catches people off guard: it leans sweet and round, with honey, vanilla, dried fruit and a young oak edge over the usual grassy cane bite. Several tasters call it a fine agricole starter, but many find it thin and a little scattered — one reviewer even flagged the alcohol never fully settling in. Fresh, easy, and a touch one-dimensional.

How does Damoiseau VO taste?
Aggregated from 117 community reviews.
Easy, mild agricole starter, a bit thin A decent entry-level Guadeloupe agricole most find easy and classic, but plenty call it thin, one-dimensional and short — pleasant enough, without much depth or focus.

Got this 5cl sample of the 3yo Damoiseau VO from Rum Ratings Tasting Club. The nose is woody and round with scents of honey and vanilla. At the palate it’s sweet, woody and round with flavors of orange, coffee and cardamom. The finish is medium long with flavors of coffee and cardamom.

A classic agricultural rum, sweet (only 40%) with a good vanilla and caramel flavor on the palate. A good entry-level VO, easy to drink in cocktails or neat, it's good value for money.

Sehr frisch-grasige Aromen, etwas Frucht in Richtung grüner Apfel. Herb, modrig und insgesamt wässrig, leicht holzig.

Sample no.22 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2022. Very funky and earthy on the nose. Same on the palate, very ”agricoly” notes of grass and spices. Not my cup of tea.
Review by TheRhumhoe
A classic rum in the permanent range, this VO from Damoiseau begins with sweet caramelized notes, dried fruit, mild spices (vanilla, nutmeg) and a fairly young woodiness. The agricultural freshness comes after aeration in the glass. On the palate, the rum goes off in all directions: sometimes towards dried fruit, sometimes herbaceous and earthy, then on toasted notes, before moving on to spicy woodiness and finally the agricultural bitterness of sugarcane. The texture is both soft and syrupy. The low alcohol content (40%) leaves the palate with an impression of lightness, at once clear and a little insipid. On the finish, a dry profile of oak, pepper and coffee emerges, with hints of coconut, grass and tannins. Without being a bad rum, this Damoiseau lacks the length, depth, impact and coherence in flavors, which go off in all directions, to be a competitive VO compared with other better-positioned cuvées.

Boring. I'm not going to waste my buzz on this. The last of the sample used as drain fat remover.

Very solid agricole. From start to finish classic agricole tastes/notes! You’ll get a good rum for a low budget. Can recommend it for “agricole starter” Nose: Dried fruits, woody, caramelized, agricole, earthy, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate, apricot Mouth: thin, dry, diluted, agricole, fruit schnaps, grass, dried fruits, leather, oak, roasted, dark chocolate Finish: short, dry, astrigend, tannins, oak, roasted, dark chocolate, grass, minty

(Okt 25)
