CDI Savanna Reunion 2004
Wood, leather and dried grape lead here, with a minty menthol thread and apricot in the background. It's an old Savanna agricole, 18 years and cask strength, and the tone is more restrained than punchy. Several tasters expected the usual Savanna fruit bombs and found this drier, quieter and a touch bitter on the finish. Balanced and well made, if not the most expressive.

How does CDI Savanna Reunion 2004 taste?
Aggregated from 33 community reviews.
Old, dry, woody Savanna with a shy nose Well-liked but not adored: people enjoy the woody-leathery, menthol-and-red-fruit profile, yet several note a shy nose and a lack of intensity and complexity for such an old cask-strength Savanna.

Aged a proud 18 years (14 of them tropical), in cognac and TDL barrels, and I imagine you can tell by the nose. Less the strawberry and bourbon vanilla notes (as with the CdI Savanna 2007/12 bottled for Germany), rather grape / raisin, wood and leather. In the background a slightly minty freshness. On the palate vanilla, bacon, pipe tobacco, transitioning to toasted fiber and a slightly dirty menthol note. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but for me it fits together well.

Despite the promising statistics, nothing half and nothing whole. Not a bad rum either, but hardly any character traits.

02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 3 Notes Dark in colour. Nose Medium intense, light wood, light mint, cherry, dried fruit, esters. Palate Balanced, round, berries, wood, faint leather, light mint, faint chocolate, esters, medium spicy. Finish Medium long, wood, berries, light mint, esters, light tobacco, faint leather.

I find the nose relatively restrained, but the palate is quite strong and rather on the spicy, woody side, with some fresh and dried red fruit too! There is a lot of menthol and some fruit on the finish, Not outstanding but good 👍🏻

14 years in Cognac in a tropical climate and 4 years in ex TDL in the Jura. Immense Savanidad 😉

My first really old Savanna. Odor profile is clearly assignable, with a clear barrel influence. I was very excited about the taste, but the high expectations lead to slight disappointment. Hardly any fruit on the palate, barrel and bitterness dominate. Compared to the aroma bombs that I usually love about Savanna, this is a very restrained rum. Conclusion: I like Savanna much better when it's a little fresher. Nevertheless, it's a very drinkable rum.

Probably one of the oldest Savannas to date and you can taste it. Nevertheless, a very nice aroma profile of wood, leather, sea salt and dark chocolate, mint cassis and various dried tropical fruits, as well as menthol and esters. The nose is quite restrained and the taste could be a little more intense and less "hidden". Nevertheless, it is a good old Savanna, but it lacks the intensity and complexity required for an excellent one.

For me, the nose is typically Savanna with chewing gum, a little ester, glue and menthol, plus fruity notes of apricot and berries. This is reflected exactly the same on the palate. Slightly bitter finish. Alcohol is well integrated.

Nez pas très aguicheur mais la bouche est surprenante et très agréable. J'ai jusqu'à présent rarement eu l'occasion de goûter cette palette aromatique

Très bon Savanna, sortant complètement des notes habituelles !

A woodiness that in no way detracts from the fruit behind... All in all, a very good product.
