My first Dutch rum - it’s an interesting rum. Don’t really get the typical pot still notes but it has layers. Brown sugar on the nose, with some cinnamon and spices. The mouth is a bit less refined and lack integration. Copper and metallic notes with an alcoholic twang similar to schnapps or grappa. The finish is a bit limited and an almost salty and menthol note. It’s hard to place an not entirely to my tastes but better than many

"I think the use of PX cask has really worked - without being overbearing. It's added a layer to the rum which is what a good finish/maturation should do. It should add some influence to the rum not make the rum taste like Sherry. Great stuff"Read full review →
