Corman Collins & The Auld Alliance Versailles Demerara Rum V VSG 1988
Opinions split on this one: some tasters call it a delicate, complex old Versailles — almond, frangipane, marzipan, herbs and old wood — while others find it a touch watery and monolithic for 34 years. It leans dry and woody, not a loud Demerara. One reviewer flagged an off-note on the palate. A quiet, cerebral pour that needs air to open up.
The community says- Marzipan and almond
- Complex, layered nose
- Reads slightly watery

Not a loudmouth, rather a fine spirit. But I really like the nose, green apple, tic tac orange (if anyone still knows it), herbs, vanilla crescents, baking mix. (Slightly spicy) spice on the palate and plenty of barrel/tannins on the finish.

No rum for the sober palate. The Versailles profiles need with me 3-4cl until they arrive. First impression was not great with all. Later, however, they unfold some complexity. This one still seems slightly watered down.
Review by Johannes
A typical Versailles, yet very astringent and dry on the palate, in contrast to the nose.

Versailles con note molto vegetali secche, camomilla e una bella evoluzione
Review by Michael Schou
23-01-2025 Had expected something different from a 34 year old Versailles. Believe it’s a mix of overweight of continental aging and the low ABV. I was missing a stronger nose and a deeper taste. Did not linger long on the palate
