Romdeluxe Wild Series Rum Panama No. 24 (Batch 1) 1999
Smells more like a peated whisky than a rum — smoke, wood and peat lead, with dried fruit and faint caramel underneath. That Islay-cask finish is the whole story here: several tasters clocked the whisky before they even sipped. At nearly 64% it comes in oily and warm, spicy in the finish with burnt sugar and nuts. A rum for people who also love smoky Scotch.

The whisky finish already stands out clearly on the nose. This continues on the palate, especially in the finish. Even if this is probably relatively successful because it fits well overall, I personally can't do much with it.

19.06.2025 Retasting and I still find it pretty good. --------------- 05.06.2022 A nice day running through samples. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Light wood, light peat, light smoke, faint caramel, dried fruit. Palate Oily, wood, light peat, light smoke, light caramel, light spicy, light sweetness, dried fruit. Finish Long and warm, oliy, wood, light smoke, light peat, light caramel, lightly sweet. Extra note. This is a rum that splits waters and definitely one that whisky drinkers will like. The cast finish is very present and may push many over the edge.

Wow. DefiniteIy rumbthat differs from others. I just dont know, id it is great or just different. Roasted nuts. More similar to peated whisky than to rum. Edit- I just found out this is Isla cask finish. That explains everything

I don't really like this. Weird smokiness.
