Review by Henry Davies
I was a bit underwhelmed initially but it built in terms of interest over time. The finish is one of the most intensely spicy finishes I have experienced which is almost moorish. It’s a light vanilla and sultana nose which is similar in presentation to Diplimatico ER albeit a tad lighter. The mouth feel is oily, layered and complex, some apple, some raisin, lots of spice and mellowing into some shortbread and sugar. The finish actually gets spicier over time which is unusual but interesting. Overall it’s not the most polished rum but it has some rawness and is different enough that I frankly really enjoyed it

Aroma Sweet, with notes of chocolate and coffee. The aroma itself is a rich caramel-like flavor, similar to Jacapa XO or El Dorado (more of a mellow sweetness than an aromatic sweetness). There is some alcohol, but it seems to be well-masked for the strength. Flavor. Very spicy, burning on the palate. Unlike the aroma, the oak is dominant, and it tastes artificially chocolatey, like the chocolate-flavored erasers of my childhood. Finish The finish is intense and woody, with a hint of cypress. Other than that, the flavors are similar to the previous notes and there is not much else. The finish is also clean.
