Popcorn and roasted nuts on the nose — not what you expect from a young cane-juice agricole. The Madeira cask pulls it away from the grassy, spicy norm toward something drier and wine-like: raisin, buttery brioche, pear, a whiff of sulphur. Members keep calling it unusual and more mature than three years suggests. The 45% sits just right, alcohol tucked in.

I really expected this rum to be worse, but it's really ok and something new. The nose is honestly mostly popcorn and roasted nuts, but delicious. The same on the palate, but really not overdone and very enjoyable, alcohol really well integrated.

Very tasty, round and mild! Beautiful notes of raisins, dried figs & baked apple with buttered cookies and roasted chestnuts, as well as buttery popcorn and sulphur. The Madeira wine influence is very well incorporated and is very palatable! The alcohol content is perfectly chosen, not too thin, not too strong. I find it really tasty.

Kein typischer junger Agricole. Trockenes Zuckerrohr trifft auf Popcorn, buttrige Noten und spürbaren Madeira-Einfluss. Überraschend harmonisch und reifer als die drei Jahre vermuten lassen. Wer charakterstarke, trockene Rums mag, findet hier viel Persönlichkeit fürs Geld.

Also das ist mal was ganz anderes. Interessanter Geruch und Geschmack. Gar nicht süß und trotzdem angenehm frisch. Trocken wie ein guter Wein. Mit einem höheren ABV könnte das ein richtiger Knaller sein.

Thanks to Pedro Ferreira, who gave my parents-in-law some rum samples :-) The nose is extremely unusual, difficult to describe. Winey, buttery, toasty, fermented fruit (grapes) and artichoke?!?? Complex! In the mouth very unusual for an Agricole, not spicy at all, but sweet and winey, which comes from the Madeira barrel. Something special, indeed an exceptional rum!

Positively surprises with a very unique profile, starting with a pithy mix of popcorn and artichoke on the nose, adding some wood and oily yet elegant sweet wine notes on the palate, before the finish loses a little of its power. Tastes much more mature than "just" 3 years and makes you want more from Madeira.
