Warehouse #1 Hampden Overproof Rum John Crow Edition DOK
Sip it neat and it drinks surprisingly easy for a DOK — glue, nail polish and overripe banana up front, then mashed pineapple and a marzipan sweetness that keeps it from feeling brutal. At 63% the alcohol sits well integrated, with a long fruity finish. Several tasters also swear by it in a daiquiri, where the funky, almost bacon-like notes shine.

- Ripe banana fruit

The best unaged DOK I have ever tasted. And yes, I have a lot of it :) ... Hampden, legendarni jamajska destilerka, ktera krome rumu produkuje take alkohol do parfemu. Ve vsech rumech z teto destilerky ucitite divoke estery, po kterych cely vas organizmus nasakne vuni zluteho tropickeho ovoce - manga, papaji, anansu, broskvi. Jeden z rumu, ktere "must try before die".

79 points. I like the nose a lot, the classic markers are present: esters, nail polish, glue, overripe fruit. On the palate it’s pretty much alike with an addition of a good dose of banana and spices. Quite an easy sipper for a DOK.

Lots of eagle owl and alcohol on the nose. Exactly what I expect from a strong DOK. In the mouth everything comes together briefly, slightly sour, sweet and sticky aromas. Relatively long finish for an unaged rum, which feels increasingly sweet towards the end. With some ageing, a great rum is sure to emerge here, the base product here is certainly top-notch. A little plus point: the great back label. I just love a bit of documentation.

Flavor comes through here in contrast to the fine drams DOK more ginger banana and spices with. Overall, the fine drams is also much more complex and round, this is me a little too salty, smoky and spicy. But still a class DOK.But also in the daiquiri dominate the almost reminiscent of bacon notes, fun but the fine drams has also here clearly the nose in front!

#4043 This was the final one and I had to admit that after this one I i dug into the Romdeluxe Trelawny White DOK. This one is also intense and fruity with nice esters and some polish in there. I'd say workshop, but we're not fully there 😊 Spicy and oily palate with a very long finish. I'd like to think that this one could spice up and already good mixer by a few steps. Price to quality is very good in my mind.

For a DOK, the rum is surprisingly easy to drink, although it brings all the attributes (ester, fruit, marzipan, spices, funk, etc.) one could almost call it tame despite the 63%!Very successful and tasty!

Wow, it smells strong. Esters galore, almost rotten fruits, crushed banana, a smell of fermentation, varnish. In the mouth, it's a real kick in the teeth, with a thick, fat texture and a warm, pungent finish, with a bitter undertone.Super white that tastes like an old man.

Beautiful DOK.

Oh yeah, an awesome Hampden. Hampdens are simply awesome. This one is also an Agricole just to my taste. Nice and fruity, a slight ester note, simply top, there's nothing more to say :)
Review by TheRhumhoe
An extreme Jamaican white rum, with many fruity aromas (banana, pineapple, strawberry, cherry, green apple) that are extremely ripe, and a funk of medicinal and phenolic notes (esters, solvents, glue, nail polish). A spicy, fermentative yeast phase appears after aeration, followed by rather perfumed undergrowth notes. A very heavy, concentrated profile, like an aromatic bomb. The attack on the palate is very fruity: banana, pineapple, passion fruit, citrus (lemon and lime) and strawberry reveal themselves in a very pleasant aromatic bouquet. This is a very elegant profile on the palate, quite fine and delicate despite the mark. There are also notes of Harlequin candy, both sweet and chemical. Medicinal and spicy notes (pepper, ginger) add variety, making the profile all the more tasty. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish, of decent length, evokes a darker, smoky, leathery rum, but funky notes are not far behind. Red fruits, exotic fruits and citrus are pleasant, but unfortunately too short-lived. A very good, unaged DOK that evolves with time, combining subtlety, structure and aromatic intensity.

Somehow I can't make up my mind about these unaged rums. Somehow they repel me, but they also attract me. Conclusion: it's good in my opinion, but I don't know yet whether I'm ready for it.

Super white, lacks a little length

leicht vergorener Touch, sehr kräftig. Bestimmt sehr gut für einige Cocktails um ein gewisses etwas zu verleihen. 😃
Review by Johnny Rumcask

A good DOK that makes you happy!

This is one hell of a rum straight from the Hampden Distillery bottled for Warehouse1. Great powerful rum full of esters and most importantly typical Hampden aroma which for me is mint. Lot's of peppermint. I love this one and whatsmore, for an outstanding price. I am not going to use it in mixers, I am going to savour it. I will buy another bottle next time I am in Prague. Very very loooooong finish.
