Jack Tar Caroni Le Soleil 1997
Caroni die-hards are the crowd here: this 1997 Jack Tar bottling piles on the classic tar, leather and menthol, but it's the extra fruit that wins people over — pineapple, strawberry, orange peel. Give it time in the glass; the nose starts quiet then opens up. At 63.8% it drinks "surprisingly soft" for the strength, but the palate stays sharp and full-on.

Another day another exceptional sample. The aroma of this sample is more fruity, with orange peel. The aroma of tobacco, wood, herbs and various medicinal aromas prevails here. In my opinion La Lune had better aroma. The taste is much more sharper than in the case of La Luna. There is a hint of vanilla, but the dominant flavors are fruit, mint, tar and strong cigar smoke. The finish is relatively long, with tobacco, herbs and spices predominating. Another great sample that will please the more experienced person, but if I have to choose, I would choose La Lune.

A lot of smoke, few Caroni left

Nice chocolate and mild nose is in contrast with a heavy taste with leather notes. Definitely for advanced audience.
