Salon du Rhum Hampden Jamaica C<>H 1993
One taster says it "macht im Glas richtig Alarm" — glue, solvent and varnish hit first, then settle into pineapple, banana and mango. This 28-year Hampden C<>H leans acidic and citrus-driven, with roasted oak and a smoky, dry finish. Several love the balance; a few find the sourness and tannins crowd out complexity next to the 1990.
The community says- Explosive fruity nose
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Heavy acidity

It causes a real alarm in the glass. You are almost overwhelmed by glue, solvents and varnish as soon as you put your nose over the glass. Despite this - or perhaps because of it - you want to keep smelling, as the situation gradually eases a little and other aromas come to the fore. In the mouth - contrary to expectations - the fruity notes dominate in the form of sweet pineapple, banana and mango. I really like it! For me, on a par with the Rumclub Treasure Cask C<>H. 2nd tasting: I simply love this rum. From the nose to the finish. An explosion of flavor on the palate.
Review by Long John Silver

For me much more funky than the 1990 ! Superbly integrated alcohol. Superb nose !

Big kill. Mouth furiously reminiscent of the savanna grand aroma compagnie des Indes

More funky and plastic nose, compared to the 90. Notes of tea , fruit in the background. Mouth much fatter , nice freshness , acetate touch , very long and crisp finish , monochord nose, mouth exciting

This one is just delightful imho. Very well balanced and more on the elegant side.

Really sexy nose. Also a surprise on the palate. I would have been better off buying it. After the first reviews, I was a little skeptical, but absolutely pleasantly surprised.

Beau millesime hampden
Review by TheRhumhoe

Finale longue.

A very nice and fruity release. Great balance between the roasted wood and fruits complimented with spices and light chocolate. I liked the smoky wood and fruit/pastry mix on the finish.

Great nose. The mouth can't quite keep up. Somewhat mixed up with sour ester notes, banana and a smoky note. Overripe grapefruit. Super bottling

This is a 1993 that does not convince me 100%! The acidity is predominant, it lacks complexity, marzipan and pastry are only perceptible in the background. Barrel influence is also present... It definitely can't keep up with the other 93s

Day 17 of the Samples de Luxe calendar and tasted again a year and a half later. Explosion on the nose, with varnish, overripe tropical fruit, funkiness and a kind of sweetness that calms things down. The alcohol attacks hard, but immediately the aromas fill the mouth. A touch of solvents, a nice bitterness and a touch of plum. The finish is rather long, and you can feel the almost 30 years of ageing! The wood remains relatively discreet but present. The empty glass adds a discreet rubbery touch. A very fine rum. To be tasted again with a little oxidation. My money was on Habitation Velier's LROK 67%.
