A sample collected at the Lucerne Rum Festival. A lively nose with fruit, lots of tropical fruit, old varnished wood and mechanical workshop in the background. The palate is delicate, with a floral perfume never before tasted at Caroni. The fruit arrives with melon and then your pleasant pastry notes. Plenty of amplitude. The finish is fresh and floral, fruity and gourmand. A beautiful rum that takes me to a market in a tropical country with all sorts of stalls selling fruit, flowers and a few mechanical repair shops.

Konnte den in einem Shop in einer kleinen Probe versuchen. Fand das da geschmacklich, wenig bis kein Caroni rauskam. War relativ rund und mehr bei einem Whisky. Viellicht war die Probe aber einfach zu klein (+-1cl)

I find it very good. Sweet. Not dirty, rather round. Definitely red fruit on the non-biting nose. Blackberry!!! 😋 In the emptied glass I smell shoe polish. On the palate just a pleasing, not very typical Caroni that doesn't want to hurt. Recommendation!Update 19.06.2022:Can't keep up in direct comparison with the Velier Caroni Employees 6th of course, simply paler, therefore 3 points devaluation to still a very good 87 points.Update 09.07.2022:Last drops from the bottle. Detect a fine earthy, rooty note on the finish. 😋 It would be unfair not to upgrade - so finalmente 88 points! 👏

Caroni 1998 Crosstasting: HTR-Noten sind etwas stärker eingebettet ins übrige Profil von Karamell, gerösteten Nüsse, dunklen Gewürzen, dezentem Tabak, und Eichenholz-Noten aus dem Fass. Angenehm zu trinken.

Nose is more on the fruity side. Some dirt is present but does not dominate at all. Quite balanced in the palate with sweet(er) and roasted notes alongside a little dirt.

14.05.2022 Had a nice meet up with some nice rums, good friends and also new rum enthusiasts. Thank you to my Swedish friend for bringing this nice bottle to the tasting. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Light wood, faint smoke, fruits, light cherry, polish, faint tobacco. Palate Oily, round, balanced, light wood, faint coffee, medium spicy, light tar, faint coffee, light cherry. Finish Medium to long, light wood, faint roasted, faint caramel, dried fruit, faint tar, warm.

Once again, Caroni is simply brilliant. Here is one of the fruitier.Nose: lovely-fruity-spicy-smoky. First comes such a nice tropical fruit mix of papaya, passion fruit and kiwi/gooseberry with lime and tangerine. In addition, a sweetness of honey and syrup. Behind that immediately a subtle but distinct smoke note, slightly burnt with rubber or plastic. I continue to find some vinegar and a slightly soapy component. Nice vanilla mixes with some pepper, tobacco and delicate anise. Pleases me very much.Palate: tasty, smoky-salty-sweet. There it is again, that lovely plastic tar polish mix. Lemon zest and a pleasant nougat sweetness to it. Green apple and papaya, plus leather and tobacco. Finishes leathery, slightly burnt with green apple. 👍👍

Interessant, dass obwohl der ordentlichen Verdünnung dennoch so viel alkoholische Noten zu vernehmen sind. Ist definitv nicht nicht mein Lieblings Kont. 98 Caroni. Dennoch sind natürlich die typischen Caroni Noten zu finden.

Ein ziemlich fruchtiger und sehr runder Caroni. Die medizinische Phenolnote wird nur dezent im Geruch angedeutet und die teerige Seite ist zwar durchweg erkennbar, nimmt jedoch zu keinem Zeitpunkt überhand. Nennenswerte Ecken und Kanten sind nicht vorhanden, was für ein enorm süffiges und mildes Trinkerlebnis sorgt, das mir aber mit seiner unbeschwerten Vielschichtigkeit sehr viel Genuss bereitet.

Im Vergleich zu den Caronis von Velier eher mild im Geschmack, mag mich aber doch zu überzeugen. Die dreckigen Noten drücken speziell in der Nase durch, im Gaumen ist der Rum etwa frisch, klarer Einschlag nach Minze und Frische

Sehr guter Rum, aber kein sehr guter Caroni. Zu Rund und gewöhnlich wenn auch der Alkohol gut eingebunden und der Tropfen allgemein recht komplex ist.
