Blackadder Finest Trinidad Rum 2005
Surprise here: this Trinidad cask-strength leans dark berry — several tasters got blackcurrant, one even likened it to black-currant candy — rather than the usual dry, dirty TDL wood. Petrol, dried fruit, clove and dark chocolate round it out, with an oily mouthfeel. At 64.7% the heat isn't fully tucked in, and a couple found it one-note and sweetish. A distinctive one that may open up with air.

#4289 07.10.2023 this was a 7 hour long event with 3 friends and it was a nice day. This one needs to rest for a good while and definitely a raw cast because I had to spit out a few tiny grains of wood. Intense profile with nice fruit and a floral touch. The palate is warm/spicy and fruity also with a floral touch. The finish is long and spicy with dried fruit and the flavours stick pretty long on the palate. The empty glass had a bit of chocolate.

Today there are 3x T.D.L 1st Cadenhead's 1991, 24yo: Typical T.D.L profile. More on the woody side with yellow fruits. The alcohol is well integrated. The usual dirty notes are also present. The finish is quite dry and medium-long, with increasingly dirty aromas. It lacks a little complexity. 85 pts. 2nd Rome Deluxe 2002, 20yo: Equally typical T.D.L profile. This time much less wood and not as dirty, but much fruitier. The alcohol is very well integrated, petrol mint in the long finish. Reminds me off the top of my head of the 2009 T.D.L from TheWhiskyJury. Very tasty! Now I'll probably have to find a whole bottle of it =P 88 pts. 3rd Blackadder 2005, 16 yo: A bottling that I didn't have on my radar until now. It also goes more in the dirty direction. There is no trace of bright fruit here. A great contrast to the Rome Deluxe. The finish is sharp in comparison to the other two, and the alcohol is not so well integrated. More complex than the Cadenheads. Too bad about the spicy note, but still a great rum that might develop well in the bottle! 85 pts.

It is something else to evaluate a rum as the first. Am curious about subsequent reviews.Due to the high alcohol content, he needs quite a long time to unfold.First nam I perceived quite clearly barrel, then came spicy aromas, clove, dark chocolate, dried and candied fruit, the last the typical mint and tea.A surprisingly oily mouthfeel, alcoholic sharpness is not to be denied. Leather, earthy, barrel, herbal notes,a tart mouthfeel,a sophisticated drop. Liked.
