Distilia Enmore Greenheart Versailles 1988
Made for drinkers who chase old, wood-forward Guyana rum and know 32 years in a barrel means the oak runs the show. Old varnished wood, leather, pencil shavings and prune, with coffee and burnt sugar underneath — then a menthol coolness that keeps it from drying out. One reviewer flags that the nose promises a touch more than the palate delivers, but the balance holds.

Review by Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰
When buying Distilia releases you know that you will spend more than average on your bottle. This one was not disappointing. The nose promises more than the palate can deliver, though the overall impression is still good. 32 year in a barrel has a tendency to leave heavy wood notes and some bitterness and that's what you'll find here. Heavy yet well balanced notes. Be aware that the wood is taking first row 😊 The empty glass reveals even clearer notes.

A beautiful nose, the kind that makes you want to dive into the liquid. Old varnished wood, leather and dried fruit. The palate is full-bodied, very woody, with pencil lead and prune. But there's freshness too, with a nice menthol note. The finish is long, balanced, woody but also fresh. Lots of wood here, but wonderfully counterbalanced by the freshness of the menthol. A great show.

... Enmore - drive distiller, now just a functional distillation device. Apparently the only wooden still in the world which is very popular. The Enmore rums have a flavour of ash, leather, heavy wood, which will delight especially the lovers of whiskey. And if in the traditional Guyanese way the producer adds a little molasses to the rum, you have a unique very distinctive and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favourites.
