Romdeluxe Savanna Collectors Series La Reunion No. 7 Grand Arôme 2013
Sip this one neat and slow — at 55.4% it's warm but many find it surprisingly creamy and mild. Expect honey, beeswax, dried fruit, spice and a clear red-wine cask influence. The catch several tasters flag: that wine finish covers the Savanna Grand Arôme funk you'd hope for, so it drinks like a spiced, wine-finished Reunion more than a big-ester bomb.
The community says- Creamy honeyed body
- Cask-strength warmth
- Wine covers the funk

How does Romdeluxe Savanna Collectors Series La Reunion No. 7 Grand Arôme 2013 taste?
Aggregated from 60 community reviews.
Wine-finished Reunion, light on Grand Arôme funk Good, drinkable Savanna, but the red-wine cask smooths over the Grand Arôme funk. Most agree it's tasty yet not what the label promises; a few find it bitter or overpowered by wine.

Super smooth savanna. Almost too smooth 😂 Strawberry, menthol, cinnamon (big red chewing gum) and green apple, complemented by light red wine notes without being too dominant. Legga stöffche! Unusually sweet even beyond that.

Second tasting: I have corrected my rating by -5 points because this bottling is not representative of the style "Grande Arome". The rum is still good but does not offer the typical spectacle for Grande Arome.nose: very present alcohol, I feel already as "pungent", no typical Grand Arome notes! Instead, influence of the wine barrel (sweet wine?)Palate: again sweetness and strong alcoholic presence, spicy notes, cocoa and barrel are added. No typical Savanna flavors like strawberry, gummy bear or Hubbabubba bubble gum but the wine barrel can be guessed.Finish: Not typical of a Grande Arome, the wine barrel has made the rum very balanced. Very good rum but not to be compared with a classic Grande Arome.

#4718 04.05.2024 Had a nice exclusive tasting at Romdeluxe with our little rum group. Nose Fresh, fruity, solvent, pineapple, ester, faint chocolate, light mint. Palate Medium dry, light wood, light roasted, dried fruit, ester, fruity, light cherry. Finish Medium long, warm, medium dry, pineapple, light roasted wood, spice.

Very disappointing! Unfortunately, nothing remains of the alleged Grand Arome. The red wine barrel completely crushes the original distillate. Too bad!

Relaxed Grand Arome.
Review by tojo
On the nose and palate a lot of wood and spices. But also honey, beeswax and yellow fruit. Barrel and bitter notes on the finish.

Not bad but not spectacular. - A really long time since last time and I agree again with myself, but still one of the better Reunions around.
Review by Jakob
Again significantly less "Grand Arome" than the barrel
Review by Thunderbird
Not a classic Savanna Grand Aromé, but still a good rum!The nose promises something different than what the palate gives! This fresh wine-like nose is quite contrary to the barrel aroma with the peppery roasty note on the palate! Surprisingly, a very little coconut also comes out.The finish is relatively short with a slight fur!On the palateist the rum very pleasantly creamy and mild!

Great aroma!? Hou hou? Where are you?!

Grand Arôme? Really? I'm sorry but to me this rather tastes like a Traditionel... blind I would have guessed a vieux agricole with maybe a sherry finish. I think RomDeluxe messed up or got cheated. What a let down! It's not a bad rum, but it's so far away from what is promised on the label. The disappointment is incorporated in the score.

I have some menthol in the nose, but somewhat restrained in addition come the really pleasant aromas from the wine finish, which also bring tidy sweetness. On the palate then smooth, a few roasted flavors come through. Honey comes through, there were the 🐝 busy.In the finish then mainly barrel and a good portion of spice. Nice rum, but for the first row lacks a bit of complexity here.

Edit: This has got significantly worse over time with air sadly. The odd, wine note, has become more and more dominant. First taste: Almost a great rum, there is just one odd note of bitterness that detracts. On the nose I pick up dried fruits, honey, pastries and barrel. On the palate it’s warm and spicy, fruity, woody and sweet. The finish brings licorice, dried fruit, green pepper and the bitterness/ mossy nasal note, which may actually be the wine coming through.

Farbe: Bernstein Geruch: Süß, cremig, Bienenwachs, Vanille-Karamell, fruchtig-frisch nach frisch geschältem Apfel. Geschmack: Süß, Vanille-Karamell, Honig, Würzig und rund. Abgang: Lang Rotwein, würzig-scharf, holzig Fass, Kaffee

A nice and full bodied rum. Just too bitter for me.

Moc dobrý, typický Reunion, ale ty prachy ani náhodou nestojí.

I was not happy about the sweet wine of the warehouse one, bevaus it fights with the savanna, here the wine is plainly terrible. It ruins and overpowers every aspect of what was supposed to be grand arome. not what you want
