RA Cuba Rum (CADC Finish) 2015

5.5/10 48 community reviews ↓

Neat, this one fights back: at 59.6% the alcohol bites hard and most tasters find little behind it beyond vanilla, a bit of wood and burnt caramel. Where it actually earns its keep is in a Cuba Libre — the high proof cuts through lime and cola nicely. A few found faint dried apricot and green apple, but "drinkable, definitely not more" sums up the neat verdict.

Hot and thin neat, better in cola Most tasters call it sharp, thin and one-dimensional even after long airing — the cask finish adds little. It comes alive mixed with cola, not in a tasting glass.

Edit: so in CubaLibre it already works O.k. the reviews of the rum are already very scathing. After the two Romdeluxe T.D.L from 2002, a cigar with a Hearts 1999 was a basis to dare to try this rum. I agree with the reviews here. There's not much there. However, in CubaLibre it is a weapon thanks to its high ABV. Actually, you only taste lime and cola there, which is very dangerous and makes for a quick buzz. Thanks to DomM who really talked me into buying the bottle for 15€. It's definitely better for the price than HC3 or other supermarket mixers.

Reminiscent of a fruit spirit - alcohol meets a smattering of stone fruit, gentle citrus notes and hints of vanilla and caramel. After that comes - nothing. An extremely uncharitable selection that does not do justice to the Rum Artesanal brand at all.

Long story short: vanilla, some cocoa and burnt notes potentially from the finish… Overall harsh and not enjoyable, really. On the second tasting: more sweetnesss than I remembered +0.1 points - „drinkable“ but definitely not more to add 😁

The weakest bottling of Rum Artesanal to date. The rum is too wild and biting. Except vanilla, some wood and alcoholic spiciness, unfortunately, not much comes across.

Ohje was ist hier denn passiert?
