Port Mourant & Uitvlugt & Diamond El Dorado Blended In The Barrel PM ICBU SVW 2010
Surprise here: this is the least sweet, most angular of El Dorado's Blended in the Barrel line. Expect walnut, molasses, toasted wood and a bit of orange, with the Uitvlugt "pencil shavings" bitterness poking through. At 49.6% there's a clear alcoholic edge and a short, salty-peppery finish. Several tasters call it the most balanced and complex of the four, if a touch rough around the nose.

How does Port Mourant & Uitvlugt & Diamond El Dorado Blended In The Barrel PM ICBU SVW 2010 taste?
Aggregated from 52 community reviews.
Dry, nutty, woody Demerara blend Most see a well-built Guyanese blend — nutty, woody, drier than its siblings — but note a raw alcoholic edge and short finish. One found it simply too sweet; a few thought it middle-of-the-pack.

Exciting blend! Diamond brings the sweetness and caramel, Port mourant the herbs and spice, uitvlugt the typical bitter and woody pencil shavings. Nice entry rum into the Guyana world and very balanced! For me in terms of complexity the best of the 4 blended in the barrel editions!🙏

Because I had the third one, I decided to give that one a go as well. This was a step backwards from the previous one, but at least you get the demarare part. I wonder what would have been the end result had these 3 been matured individually, a rare cask? The 3 destillates have been blended in the barrel right after being destilled and the aged together. The price is too high for these 2010 bottles.

Was soll ich sagen? Uitvlugt wie ich ihn kenne kommt eigentlich kaum durch. Ansonsten ein sehr holziges Teil. Außerdem kann man hier Würze erkennen, sowie auch Nuss (Muskatnuss), aber auch Vanille. Echt lecker.

Dark chocolate, vanilla and fruit on the nose, but also somehow musty. Then fruity, spicy, bitter and woody in the mouth. Only after a while can you taste the things you could smell before. The finish is rather sharp and doesn't seem very harmonious to me. The price also makes it uninteresting.

Rumfest finally gave me the chance to taste these much-maligned bottles. Yes, it's (very) expensive for ten-year-old rum, despite the tropical aging, and that's my biggest complaint. It's quite full-bodied, perhaps a little too much so, given El Dorado's usual caramel character. But in the end, it's good, like El Dorado 21 (2020 version) only a little better. The bottles are pretty close to each other, but they're blends, so that explains it too. All in all, I think these bottles, priced at around €100, would be a good deal for discovering some nice Guyanese blends that are pleasant and accessible, without going for something very specific. That may well have been the idea, but unfortunately it was far too expensive. The purple one was my favorite.

Nose less refined than the other blended in the barrel bottlings, more alcoholic edge, some nuts and orange. The mouth is a bit more unusual, bitterness and clove with some wood to back it up. Finish is medium and reasonable, a bit of salt and anise and more pencil shavings. Less caramel and sweetness but not sure it is all the better for it. Middle of the pack

Finally I had some time to try another sample, and I was so happy when I found out that it will be another Eldorado. Aroma itself is little bit alcoholic, but after a few minutes I noticed nutts, herbal scent, wood and molasses. After another few moments I finally found fruits in it (orange and raisins mostly), scent of glue and just a hint of pepper. Taste in my opinion is much more alcoholic that I would preffer, with pepper (cinnamon), wood and almost caramel flavor with combination of bitter. Finish is quite short but to be honest very interesting (salty, nutty, peppery with lot of herbal notes). I absolutely love the color of this rum, I liked its aroma, mainly that orange, but to be honest taste and the whole rum seems very average. Need to try it again someday.

The edgiest rum in the range. Typical Demerara notes. Not as sweet and caramelly as the other three in the series.

Krasna mahagonova barva, sladkost ve vuni jako kdybych tam citit tmavou cokoladu v sherry. Alkohol je prijemne integrovan. Kratky dojezd, nijak zajimave jinak v chuti. Vube je lepsi jak chut. Maly vzorek mi staci.
