Blackadder Clarendon Raw Cask Rum Jamaica Rum MMV 2007
People genuinely split on this Clarendon MMV. Some call it a green, "unreif und ungezähmt" beast fresh from the bottle — biting menthol, lacquered oak, unripe tropical fruit and nail-varnish with no sweetness to soften it. But most agree it opens up dramatically with air: glue, pineapple, ester and a big eucalyptus-mint cloud, long roasted-wood finish. A polarizing one, not for the impatient.
The community says- Big menthol-mint character
- Long roasted-wood finish
- Aggressive nail-varnish

How does Blackadder Clarendon Raw Cask Rum Jamaica Rum MMV 2007 taste?
Aggregated from 25 community reviews.
Menthol-heavy, raw Clarendon that needs air Loved by some, "just flawed" to others. The consensus catch: intense menthol, varnish and a young, unpolished edge that needs weeks of air before it settles into something rewarding.

A rum that only three aficionados have rated here so far and where opinions seem to differ. I'm pretty high up in my rating and therefore almost with Sebastian Kornett. The rum impresses with its full-bodied character and typical Clarendon notes and looks as if it has been aged for a very long time and is still from the 20th century. Winner of the evening. And the competition was strong (including Velier Royal Navy Rum and Perola REV 1994).

Unreif und ungezähmt. Alkohol nicht gut eingebunden. Nicht meins

I find the Blackadder bottlings particularly appealing because of their visual roughness. This Clarendon also has promising key data. This rum is very full-bodied, dry and astringent and impresses with a very strong menthol/mint note on the palate. If you like that, you will find an excellent rum to suit your profile. For me, there is a little too much of these aromas. The long finish, however, brings out a lot for me. In addition to the menthol and mint mentioned above, the wood and espresso come through clearly. Make sure you leave it to rest for at least half an hour!

Now i understand Clarendon i have had a few bottles and in my opinion this bottle is just flawed. Menthol, varnish, numbing finish is really harsh and unpleasant. Very sad to own a full bottle. problems are vegetal, menthol, nailvarnish etc. with no balancing sweetness 3.9 review upon opening: fresh out of the bottle not delicious at all. AND i love ajamaica funk. Better to go for a Hampden or Worthy Park. Have decanted half bottle in hopes of the rum evolving and calming down. Tastes off / bad to me and everyone I have shared it with. Most people love my high ester hampden and worthy parks. But not this. It’s honestly just bad in my oppinion. Will stick to velier in future.

Very intense and pungent. The taste is in the background and does not stand out. More monotonous and numbing than exciting and refreshing.

Phew. MMW is a difficult marrow. When you hit the right maturity, it's a fantastic fruit bomb - as in the first Plantation One Time Limited. This rum, unfortunately, lacks the necessary maturity. The nose is rather green, lots of vegetal notes and rather unripe tropical fruit. In the mouth, the rum is even more aggressive, the alcohol is not well integrated, the tropical fruits still unripe and the medicinal notes replace the herbal. In addition, the typical? Clarendon Maggi notes. Either my senses are still blocked today or the rum is really very immature.

Reminds me of the EMB Plummer only not so sharp. Great Clarendon fruity woody some glue solvent and nice long finish. Was a blind purchase and I am very happy about the.

Feels very young. Nothing unique. A lot of herbal and esters notes. So wood. Some pineapple. Its fine. But much better options.
