Samaroli Trinidad Rum 1999
Sip this one neat and the split becomes obvious: the nose promises a lot — rubber, mint, burnt sugar, that dirty TDL character with a whiff of camphor — but the palate turns thin and watery, like it was reduced a touch too far. There's fresh minty lime, cut grass and a smoky note several tasters pinned to a whisky cask. Interesting, just not fully "rumig."

How does Samaroli Trinidad Rum 1999 taste?
Aggregated from 24 community reviews.
Lovely nose, thin watery palate Great nose, letdown palate. Most agree the aromas promise more than the thin, watery mouth delivers; a couple would have loved a higher ABV to give it body.

On the nose you can place it as Trinidad. Very thin on the palate, far too watery.

Not too bad but would have loved a higher ABV.

Samaroli is always such a thing for me, often the PLV doesn't really fit, but they are usually pretty to look at; I just don't really care 😉, it should taste good. Let's see... Nose: intense, sweet-fruity and spicy. I got lime and grapefruit with a slightly artificial sweetness of orange syrup. All accompanied by soap and an apple-vinegar note. There is also something subtly smoky from burnt sugar. There is also some mint hidden behind the vinegar. Palate: somewhat restrained at first, almost thin. Starts off a little musty, but then turns into something slightly fruity and spicy. There's lime zest and old mint with mown grass. But everything is somehow dull and earthy. The salty-minty lime freshness alone is quite appealing. The nose promised more.

I am positively surprised! Very tasty rum with ... yes: a distinct cannabis note! 😋😋😳🤣 Reminds me a lot of the One Time Limited Trinidad from Plantation. But it only cost a third of the price ... 🙄 Because of the unfavorable PLV, this great rum unfortunately only gets 85 points, otherwise it would have been 89.

The nose is not bad at all! On the palate, unfortunately, little body, short finish, alcoholic, slight smoky whisky notes. I could imagine that it was aged in a whisky cask.

Geile Nase, schwacher Gaumen.
