William Hinton Peated Whisky Single Cask Finish
Sip this neat and it's basically peated Scotch wearing a rum label: smoked bacon, heavy peat and campfire smoke up front, with faint vanilla underneath. A cane-juice agricole from Madeira aged five years, but the whisky-cask finish runs the whole show. Most tasters find it more curiosity than pleasure — one called it weird and original, another used ginger ale to wash it away.

This Agricole from Madeira is especially produced for the 1423 Calendar 2021. Overall an very interesting Agricole, maybe with too much whisky taste. I believe I must explore more rums from William Hinton.

Wow, I reviewed today supposedly peaty plantation stiggins fancy after teeling whiskey. It is not. No smoke no peat. This one you sense the smoked bacon right away. And when you taste it boy it is weird. Peat all around. I never had something like that and this is exactly ehat I was expecting when someone says peated finish. Now I am bot saying it is great but it is very very different and original but I cant imagine my self drinking more than one 2cl sample.

I’m not a whiskey fan, but I imagine this would be a nice stepping stone into rum if you are one. Personally, this is not something I’d enjoy.

I don’t get this one. It’s a rum that seems made for people who don’t like rums and wishes that this was a peated whiskey. So just drink a peated whiskey instead. Other than as a really niche use in cocktails to reach some specialized flavor I don’t think this attempt at pushing whiskey flavors into rum is a success. Maybe they just got a good deal on the barrels?

I have to admit, I don´t like scotch whisky and that´s why my rating is so low. Nose is very smoky with mint and chocolate. Taste is smooth before the whisky cask element occur - smoke, peat. For lovers of peat whisky it is must have!

Not an impressive rum. Closer to a whiskey than an actual rum. I cannot muster much on this one as it just left a bad taste which i quickly removed with ginger ale. I would not recommend this rum to anyone. It is an unpleasant experience.
