HSE Single Cask (MEB 2021) 2006
Sip this one neat, and give it a few drops of water — several tasters say it opens up, turning woodier spice into brighter orange and fruit. Expect dark, elegant oak, tobacco, cinnamon, cocoa and toasted nuts, with a fresh cane edge underneath. A polished aged Martinique agricole. The main gripe: a finish that runs a touch short for its age.

How does HSE Single Cask (MEB 2021) 2006 taste?
Aggregated from 80 community reviews.
Elegant, woody aged Martinique agricole Loved as a balanced, complex aged agricole — dark oak, tobacco and cocoa over cane. Two recurring nitpicks: some want a bit more ABV, and the finish feels short for 15 years.

After a quick discovery of the rumfest, we bought the bottle and had a real tasting and direct comparison with its 2003 counterpart. The nose: enchanting, a real bohneur and a perfect balance between the freshness of the cane, the fruitiness and the darker contributions of the cask. The degree is perfect, so you can dive right in without having to dab your nostrils afterwards. The 2003 was more on the barrel. On the palate: insanely greedy, super. In short, a top-notch Agricole, a model of delicacy and balance that I found even better than the 2003 precisely because it reduces the woodiness and puts even more fruit in the glass.

Erinnert an die Destillate von Clement. Der höhere Alkoholanteil tut diesem Rum wirklich gut.

Wonderful balance and intense as well as dry on the palate. I like the spices and wood as well as the light chocolate and tobacco on the profile. Price to quality is very good in my mind.

Hmm, sehr schön holzig, Orange, rote, vielleicht eher schwarze Johannisbeere.

I sampled this rum this afternoon and was very surprised by it. This rum is right up my alley, beautiful woody notes, tobacco and some fruit with a slightly dry finish. I might buy a bottle in the future.

Well, that was really good. Really first-class agricole. A colplex nose that offers everything from floral notes, tobacco, tea and chocolate. The taste is no less interesting. On the contrary. Fruit, wood, tobacco, all perfectly balanced.

Review by Rene Pfeiffer
Review by Felix Reiber

Superb nose and a palate with cocoa and red fruit on the finish, a very fine bottle. Lacks length however, which won't make this bottle an exceptional keel.

Review by Buddudharma
Beautiful, classic Agricole profile with cherry, wood, spices and some sweetness, very harmonious overall. Nevertheless, the low ABV bothers me a little...
