Savanna The Wild Island Édition - Cascade 2007
Cask-lovers are the right audience here: this 13-year Savanna leans hard on its Cognac and Port aging. Expect a basket of red fruits — strawberry, cherry, blackberry — with dark chocolate, leather, licorice and a peppery, vinous edge. Several drinkers note the wood takes over, muting Savanna's usual pineapple-and-violet funk. Balanced and warm, but the finish runs shorter than the nose promises.

How does Savanna The Wild Island Édition - Cascade 2007 taste?
Aggregated from 77 community reviews.
Fruity, Port-driven Savanna with peppery wood Well-liked as a fruity, spice-and-Port Savanna, but a recurring gripe: the Cognac/Port casks dominate and the finish stays medium-short. Not the strongest in the Chai Humide line for some.

Together with DomM we tasted a few Savanna today. Many thanks to Johannes for the samples. The biggest disappointments were the RX232 and the RX11264. My personal favorite was the RX9608. The RX11034 and the RX11515 just made it over the 8 points.

Relatively dry savanna. Chocolatey-vanilla on the palate with cherries.

I definitely expected more here, rather disappointing. It's delicious, drinks absolutely well, but the cognac and port cask have simply gained the upper hand and the pineapple, violet, strawberry and generally fruity notes have almost no chance of coming through... Good thing I only took a sample! Unfortunately the weakest chai humide overall... The relatively low alcohol content is also a disappointing factor here. Not a bad rum but absolutely no chance compared to Chai humide 8y and 10y or the Savanna Madras!

A balanced and fine thing. It reminds me starkly of a Trident chewing gum from my youth. Various fruits with partly leathery, slightly smoky, woody notes. Unfortunately, there is a lot of alcohol in the forefront of the nose over time.

Surprisingly sweet rum that develops intense chocolate-vanilla notes on the palate in combination with tropical, slightly fermented fruits. Pleasant.

Great Savanna with port finish that adds the red and sour berries, chocolate and delicious spices. A special feature is found in the finish: herbal notes like tea join the roasty coffee and the other flavors. A tad too acidic in the finish, which gives a few points off. Overall, however, not bad :-)

Even after quite some time to breath, the nose presents itself rather closed-up. I get wood and leather notes alongside red fruits/berries with a hint of cherries. In no way bad, but not very present overall unfortunately. On the palate, the port finish is more distinguishable for me. But in a good way. Red fruits, cacao, leather and Christmas spices make for a rich and deep experience. Very nice overall.

Nice complexity, but I would have expected more.

A good Savanna with beautiful fruit! The palate is mildly pleasant and also fruity! A slight woody spice to finish. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. The finish is slightly woody, herbal and unfortunately too short! Very tasty ! 2nd tasting compared to cask 985, Here it loses significantly! Especially after a standing time is almost only alcohol to be perceived, so I deduct a few points

02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 6 Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Light wood, fruits, floral, light citrus, faint polish. Palate Warm, round, light wood, citrus, light floral, light salty, light banana, spice, faint polish. Finish Medium long, light wood, citrus, light salty, faint olive.

Tip top
Review by RumTaTa
Review by tojo
Abgang eher kurz.
Review by DosenZorn
