Hampden Kill Devil Jamaica C<>H 2007
Pineapple, mango and green apple burst out of the glass, backed by butterscotch, glue and raw cookie dough — the classic Hampden ester package at full 65.8% strength. Several tasters call it a fruit bomb that's still smooth enough to sip, with a long finish where light oak and leather finally show up. Sour, sharp-edged start, then that buttery fruit takes over.

How does Hampden Kill Devil Jamaica C<>H 2007 taste?
Aggregated from 31 community reviews.
Intense, fruity high-ester Hampden fruit bomb Loved by ester fans as a powerful, fruit-forward Hampden that hides its proof well. A few find the acidic, sharp-edged entry a touch aggressive and note it's less complex than the Flensburg 2007s.

Absolutely lovely rum. This is a high ester fruit bomb that explodes on the nose and palate but which is very smooth and nice to sip on. Sometimes these rums are more interesting than they are ‘drinkable’ but this one manages to do both very well.

Best so far what I had
Review by X-Savior
On The Rocks: On the nose it has very strong alcohol with dried fruit and floral notes with mild hints of spice. Taste reveals a strong a alcoholic presence with immediate strong spice notes followed closely with prominent floral and fruit flavours with a medium sweetness. There is some underlying woody notes with leather to round off this very delicious and complex rum. Finish is medium length with fading off leather and spice notes. This is an exceptional rum that is among the best we have ever tasted. Beautiful sipper. I highly suggest smaller quantity as a sipper, I had a couple Oz with a few large ice cubes and it was difficult to finish… it is complex and strong making it not the most ideal evening glass to sip. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose mild leather with mild fruit and floral notes. Still getting some light underlying spice notes as well on the nose. Taste has a confusing mix of strong floral and fruit notes with spices. You lose the alcoholic hit leaving the rum feeling off balance. Finish is short with dried fruit. I suggest only drinking this release on the rocks because mixing it throws the profile off-balance. It shines through the Pepsi Zero like few other rums.

On the rocks: This is one impressive rum so much going on all at once. Definitely can taste the high alcohol content but its not overwhelming. Its a delightful culmination of flavors with a medium complex finish. Mixed Pepsi Zero. Nosing: Still have that great sweet smell, leathery, fruit and floral. Subdued alcohol smell. Taste: Retains its strong taste, losses it’s alcoholic hit and medium finish going to a shorter finish.

Very similar to the Flensburg from the German Rum Festival. Really tasty. Great high ester. For cocktails, it also really hits the spot. Whether it is worth the 149€, everyone must decide for themselves. I ordered a second bottle. Great Continental matured C<>H.

02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 5 Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Intense, light wood, esters, light grass, pineapple, glue, light tomato. Palate Warm, light spicy, esters, light wood, citrus, pineapple, light tannins, faint caramel, light glue. Finish Long and warm, ester, light wood, light glue, Extra note. There is a light malt presence in the profile.

Really very nice fruity and intense 2007 Hampden. Nose with a lot of power, sweet, honey and esters. Taste buttery, yellow fruits and again honey sweetness. In the attack slightly peppery and wood that lasts long. Super powerful overall package

Strong aromas of butter/almond bakery aromas paired with esters and tropical fruits. Very intense both on the nose and on the palate.

Tasted against the two Duchess of the same vintage (rx10462 & 10861). The Kill Devil emerged as my favorite on the nose and palate. Only by 1 and 2 points respectively. But as the winner.

Very good, the smell is different from the taste but you won't be disappointed, great after test

Monumentale. Complexe. L'esther surpuissant s'eclipse tres docement pour laisser la place a un mix spicy powder, fruits exotiques - bananes qui reste en longueur vers le cuir et tabasse en restant peps. ...
