Despite the naval styling, this drinks closer to a Christmas dessert than a rum. Expect buttery cake batter, gingerbread, candied orange peel and chocolate, all wrapped in heavy sweetness. Several tasters found the sugar covers everything else, and one flat-out called it "a liqueur" rather than rum. Pleasant if you know what you're getting; frustrating if you want spirit character to show.

Mir fällt hier nur eins ein: SÜß und zwar extrem süß. 66 gramm Zucker auf den Liter lügen nicht. Der erschlägt leider alle anderen Aromen. Das ist mehr ein Likör und hat mit Rum nicht mehr viel zu tun. Würde ich nicht mehr trinken.

Another sweet release and I hope that in the future they will reduce the sweetness a bit because it really doesn't become well at all. I do also know that they want to make rum for the masses and beginners.....

Im Gegensatz zu anderen Danish Navy's von A.H. Riise wird man am Gaumen sprittig begrüßt was aber nicht lange anhält. Schnell übernimmt die Süße das Kommando, welche Schokonoten und Vanille im Gepäck hat. Mittelprächtiger A.H. Riise aber durchaus trinkbar.

7,3:The nose is immediately reminiscent of buttery cake batter, sprinkled with a few mild spices, and why not a handful of nuts? We've also added a few candied orange peels and a sprinkling of rum-soaked dried fruit.With aeration, our cake takes on a clearer, more speculoos or gingerbread-like character. The buttery, shortbread aspect is quite striking, with the spices surfing on an almost cereal-like mellowness. 7:The palate is as round as expected, and is quickly lined with a syrupy liquor. The spirit's power is thus largely covered, making it particularly approachable. The spices quietly detail themselves on the taste buds, with a generous pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, then fruits like cherries and candied oranges take over. 6,8:The finale is our shortbread dough, amply buttered and gently spiced.

Burnt candy sweet with an awful hint of sweetener. Way to sweet for me though the burnt candy actually has something good in it. Alas, for me it's a low score.

The description says that this is a sweet rum. I would not classify this as a rum, rather a liqueur. The description on the bottle is quite accurate in that sense: 'superior spirit drink made from premium matured rum'. I would not sell this as a rum, but as a liqueur it is okay.

The nose is more flat than the regular Danish Navy. Caramel and sugar peanuts. The taste is all about candied orange peel. A sweet finish. Overall I like the normal Danish Navy a bit better, even though that one isn't that impressive either.
