Sweet without being really sweet. Very tasty, straightforward with the necessary depth. Very pleasant wood notes.

Don Q makes light, very light rum. Who expects flavor bombs is wrong here, neither full-bodied rum nor super heavy (and sweetened) wood can be found here. The star is the distillate, which comes elegant and delicate. Tasted neat, aromas of dried yellow fruits and wood show up, in the mouth a champagne-like quality is added, a touch of oleo saccharum combines with pear and the yellow fruits to create a wonderful delicate creaminess. The 40% unfortunately negates this somewhat. The finish is again a bit more tart and woody, delicate tannins and en touch of tobacco complete the picture. This is super crafted, pure but still very unspectacular. This rum is a mixer, but a mixer with star qualities. As a component in tiki drinks, it remains far in the background, where it belongs. It makes a super mojito, to which the light wood gives a great depth. The Old Cuban could become the signature drink, it combines perfectly with mint and champagne (or other brut sparkling wine). That's where it really takes off. If you're looking for a dry Spanish mixer that puts the distillate front and center, this is it. I'm a fan (neat: 70/cocktail:86): 78

7,4:On the nose, the first impression we get is with caramelized nuts and tropical fruits, chocolate pastry, roasted/charred wood with vanilla and baking spices, molasses are quite thick with buttery caramel and chicory coffee. 7,5:On the palate, the attack is soft, sweet, silky with notes of creme brulee, caramel, milk chocolate, spicy with pepper, fruity with pineapple, some pastry as strawberry cake, salty, the wood is charred, so it comes a bit musty and there is also tobacco. 7:The finish is medium, sweet, woody, spicy with caramel, chocolate, dry, with caramelized dried fruits..

Etwas Vanille, etwas Holz, recht alkoholisch. Drinks: - Pur 3/5 - Rum Cola: 2/5 - Rum Mule: 3/5

I'd rank this as a very good beginner rum. Very light profile with fruit and caramel. The profile os rather sweet without being too sweet.

Tasting Artur's Puerto Rico rums. A nose so different from the others that I thought of a pirate. Esters, tropical fruits, mango and varnished wood. We're in another world here. A lively palate with esters, tropical fruit, flowers, nuts and a rather massive wood. A long finish for the first time in this tasting.

Rum No. 18 Thin, but so far the most complex of rounds 1-18, but still plenty of room for improvement. Thank you Artur for this mega-split journey through rums from Puerto Rico. Thank you also for the work you always do for us and making old bottles possible for us! 😊

The liquid History of Puerto Rico - vielen Dank an Artur für die Teilung! Im Abgang etwas alkoholisch.

A good rum for mixing

Tagesausflug Dortmund August 2025. Shop Stendels.

Dicker Respekt!
Review by abaker-rum
A light bodied rum that has a mellow nose and light taste. The oak carries most of the notes, with vanilla and caramel on the palate and finish. There is a slight hint of vinegar on the nose. I also get some milk chocolate on the finish.

Light in the nose yet showing a high quality. Wood, vanilla, roasted nuts and a hint of dried fruits. While not overly intense, the nose is quite up there for a low ABV column rum imo. On the palate the profile is dominated by wood / molasses / vanilla with not very much complexity. All in all a high quality product for what it is. Works very well as a light rum in drinks as well.

A little too thin and boring.

"It doesn't pull up any trees or do anything "new" or "innovative" but its a very solid rum. What it does do in terms of the flavour profile it does very well. It's a much better rum than say Bacardi 8 for example."Read full review →
